I thought I would post this in B210K as well as the C25K forum to get your wonderful ideas, so sorry for the replication.

While dealing with my frustration at not being able to run due to a debilitating chest infection, I thought I would put together a couple of playlists to tempt me out when Iโ€™m fit and well. Hidden as always has given me great inspiration with her โ€œ1st singleโ€ list and Iโ€™m looking forward to running with it.

My daughter is obsessed with The Greatest Showman so I thought, why not have a couple of the more up tempo tracks to run to. And that got me thinking about other songs from musical films and shows.

So far have included:

Crazy in Love - Emile Sande & Bryan Ferry Orchestra - The Great Gatsby

A Little Party Never Killed Nobody - Fergie &c The Great Gatsby

Where the Wind Blows - The Great Gatsby

Lady Marmalade - Moulin Rouge

Because We Can - Moulin Rouge

Sparkling Diamonds - Moulin Rouge

Rhythm of The Night - Moulin Rouge

Diamond Dogs - Moulin Rouge

At the End of The Day - Les Miserables

One Short Day - Wicked

Defying Gravity - Wicked

Ride a White Swan - T Rex- Billy Elliot

Angry Dance - Billy Elliot

I Love to Boogie - T Rex - Billy Elliot

Somethingโ€™s Coming - West Side Story

America - West Side Story

Hoping you lovely people can suggest some upbeat songs or tracks from musical shows or films that I can add to tempt me back outside.

Thanks.

I think Gravity is a crock It would drive me mad ๐Ÿ˜. Show tune yeah but to run to ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

From west Side I like the โ€œok by me in Americaโ€. Can you get the soundtrack that Bernstein recorded with the opera singers? Good, if so ๐Ÿ‘

Midnight from Cats, by EP, Slow I guess but what a song I like a bit of karaoke while running Not a sound from the pavement ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™m putting a list of wants together as I have a ยฃ25 iTunes voucher ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Some great show tunes to choose from ๐Ÿค”. I know! Climb every Mountain from Sound of Music

Iโ€™m off running now, so while I do, iโ€™ll Have a think ๐Ÿ’ญ

Have fun with your list ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

My girls love Gravity, so I put it in there as it makes me think of them singing it as a duet when they were younger. Sorry to put you off!

There is a sound track of Westside Story with Kiri Te Kanawa as Maria on Deezer. Not sure about spotify.

I do like Midnight from Cats, but I need a father pace to run to or Iould grind to a halt and end up doing an impersonation of Elaine Paige!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks for your other suggestions misswobble and hope you enjoyed your run.

If it's not Starlight Express I'm not interested.

Genuinely have The Race on my event playlist for the last push to the finish line ๐Ÿ˜„

Good suggestion - I don't know Starlight but that track will be a good one to get me moving. Thanks Sqkr

It's just a nostalgia thing for me, I loved it so much when I was really little, and wanted to be a train ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sorry to hear that you're poorly. Hope you feel better soon, and thanks for the suggestions. I love Danger Zone particularly.

Not that I specifically have a showtunes running playlist or anything, but:

Cabaret: Life Is A Cabaret, Mein Herr

Grease: Greased Lightnin' (You're The One That I Want is a bit frenetic)

Les Miserables: At the End of Day, Red and Black

Jesus Christ Superstar: Herod's Song

Chicago: When You're Good To Mama, Razzle Dazzle

Easy Virtue: When The Tough Get Going *yes that one*

South Pacific: There Is Nothing Like A Dame

Anything Goes: Anything Goes

High Society: Well Did You Evah?, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Oh wow, you actually do like show tunes and these are some belters. Thank you so much FenderTelecaster :-)

Greased Lightening will be good, and I think You're the One that I Want may be a good one to get my tempo up.

I play Chariots of Fire on my longer runs to slow me down a bit. I have a vision of running at the waters edge along with Nigel Havers.. swoon.

Oh thatโ€™s a great picture to have in your head while running. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

I love anything by TRex ๐Ÿ˜˜ What about these just off the top of my head:

If My Friends Could See Me Now - Sweet Charity

Rhythm of Life - Sweet Charity

All That Jazz - Chicago

Time Warp - Rocky Horror

And although it would be hard to run to you've got to have Big Spender in there from Sweet Charity also. I once gave a rendition of this to a man I'd just met in front of a lot of people ๐Ÿ™„ Every time I hear it now I still blush โ˜บ๏ธ

I have a fave tune from Hair, which reminds me of all the happy hours spent in a certain nightclub, Aquarius by Fifth Dimension. The house band did a fab rendition of it nightly to open the show, so itโ€™s forever etched on my brain

Another fave of mine from Hair, and I actually still have the single, is good morning starshine by Oliver

Both bat along nicely ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Excellent suggestions.

And now I've just stumbled on Hairspray while looking for Hair and will have to put in a couple of tracks from that too.

Ha ha, youโ€™ll be at it all day now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I loved the documentary on telly about West Side Story remaking of the music with opera singers OK by me in Americkaaaaaaa! ,lovely stuff. You could run to that whilst hooping and a hollerin ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

Footloose is an absolute belter A must-have in my view

I already have Footloose on another playlist, but you're right, it's a belter.

I run to I love you Porgy by Billie Holliday (from Porgy and Bess).

Mack the Knife is a fave running tune, by Bobby Darin version of course, (Threepenny Opera) It makes me laugh cos it reminds me of my peer group on here ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Talk of fancy gloves and flick knives, cement bags, tugboats, drooping on down etc etc, could it be our girlโ€™s dun sumnโ€™ rash ๐Ÿ˜

I sing out very loud to Secret Love โ˜บ๏ธ

Howard keel and Doris Day could keep you running into infinity I guess

I get a kick out of you from Anything goes is good The Gary Shearston one is lovely

So many greats songs ๐Ÿ‘

I went to see Porgy and Bess at the London Coliseum in November. It was fantastic.

Iโ€™m now thinking I need something from Carmen Jones - maybe Beat Out That Rhythm on a Drum.

Youโ€™ve also got me thinking about In The Heights which I saw in New York during its first ever week. My girls used to sing the sound track all the time.

Mack the Knife โœ”๏ธ

Anything Goes is in already I think.

This is going to be a very long Playlist, Iโ€™d better get myself better so that I can actually get out and run to it. ๐Ÿคฃ

Excellent suggestions Hidden . The additional boost from the PCT meant that I was actually able to do quite a lot of singing without sounding like a frog or barking dog.

Thanks for the olive oil. Mr Razouski was very impressed and is thinking that a trip to Italy to see where it is produced is essential.

Enjoy the pummelling on the IC couch. ;-)

in reply to Razouski

Who knew that PCTs were such an aid to recovery??? ;)

Iโ€™ll keep an eye out on the site for the dementia run details and let you know, but as Mr JCR said, you can always come out at any time for a visit, you could try a long weekend (because it is very snoozy where we are!) .

We leave pre Brexit about 22 March, so if you fancied a Spring โ€˜tasterโ€™ weekend we could co-ordinate and that may work better for Mr Raz.

I thought of you today as I ran my tricky trail. I'd downloaded a wierd tune. Well, wierd to everyone else except me perhaps. It's not a musical but rather from a film. High Noon It reminds me of my dad, as he looked like Gary Cooper, so to remember his birthday, and this fabulous track i downloaded it to run to today.

Tex Ritter Do Not Forsake Me

youtube.com/watch?v=WzGtvnj...

I can't sing for nuts but I don't worry about that. You will make a better job Raz Enjoy!

The soundtrack on Itunes is better than this actually, it's a little bit different. It's got a pic of John Wayne on the front of the album

Razouski profile image

That was a nice way to remember your dad on his birthday. ๐Ÿ™‚

My dad was always singing His fave was Letโ€™s Twist Again, or Delilah ๐Ÿ˜.

His top fave though was The Seekers - The Carnival is Over, so I ran to that one today too It always gets to me that one does ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

He was a Lena Horne fan but Iโ€™ve not got any of hers, yet ๐Ÿ™‚
