So last night, helped along by some new lovely lycra and the Moulin Rouge and Greatest Showman soundtracks, I completed my first ever 10k!! π
I set off feeling a bit achy (Iβd stupidly decided to start doing HIT workouts earlier in the week, not realising Iβd ache for days afterwards!) but the aches soon faded when I hit my stride and it actually felt like a good run for the first time in ages. It was slow and Iβd misjudged how steep a couple of the hills were but I know for next time! I can always work on my time.
Iβm just so proud of myself for getting to this point - before Christmas I couldnβt run at all and now I can do 10k and have two 5k races coming up which Iβm completely confident about.
Thank you to all you lovely people on here. Even if I donβt write much, Iβm always reading the fabulous, encouraging and supportive posts and it really does help!

Congratulations, I am in the new batch of Ju-Jus Bridge to 10k about to start this journey so it's great to read your story and hopefully I will be there sometime in August!
Oh gawdπ. Racing is such a blast! Who knew ππͺππββοΈπ¨π
I was in my late fifties when I started racing but they're such fun. You canβt help but laugh. It makes you giddy Or is it just me π€·ββοΈπ
I got into a hard race, on a very cold day, and questioned my sanity for a second or two but when I saw all the older women around me, and some much older, I was reassured. What else would I be doing on a cold, winterβs dreary Sunday morning ππͺ
Iβm really looking forward to racing, Iβve only ever done one race for life before & it was way before I graduated c25k so I walked a lot of it. Canβt wait to run properly for the whole distance!
π I think weβre all a tiny bit mad but in the best way possible π
Well done, that's brilliant, and really encouraging for the likes of me, fighting to get up there. It sounds like you had a really lovely ru and things just came together. I'm so glad you made it. I really hope that will be me in a few weeks, though I may not wear quite as much lycra
Well done; you need to claim your badge. Iβm laughing at the irony of you running 10k to the soundtrack from a film about a woman who couldnβt breathe properly because she had tb. Mind you, Ewan Macgregor makes it all worth while!
π I know, I was thinking that as I puffed up a hill trying to sing along to Come what may! π Musical film soundtracks are my new motivation. Iβm thinking Les Miserables next time... you know, for all those positive vibes π
Congratulations !! Well done! Iβve just done my first 10 k too ( I think, I paused my app and forgot to turn it on again!) and am simply amazed, though I am a slo-w runner and canβt see me doing a race of any sort ever! Like you before Christmas I couldnβt run at all. I love this app and this community, I could never have done it without :-))) Happy running:-))
