Park Run double to start the year.

So the plan was to just have a couple of drinks and head to bed well before midnight to be fresh for my 2 park runs this morning.

Did that happen, nooooo of course not. Dragged myself to bed at 2am feeling quite merry, got up at 7am feeling a lot less merry but somehow managed to make it to Newbiggin by the Sea for the first one.

So glad I did as the light was magical with not a cloud in the sky and the sun just risen over the North sea. Also the attendance was massively up on normal which I'm sure was the case at all runs today.

The run actually went surprisingly well and by the end I felt ok if a little stiff legged.

A quick drive north to Druridge Bay country park for 2 laps around Ladyburn Lake. Again a big attendance but the less said about this one the better, the legs went completely as the night before caught up with me. It seemed as tough as last years Great North Run and it was all I could do not to stop and walk at times.

However I didn't and managed to stagger over the line just under 35 minutes.

So what I hope will be a great runing year has started.

I hope many of you were able to get out for a run today (Park Run or not) and a very happy New Year to you all.

Photo from Newbiggin.

Run happy, run safe.

Snap Chris! Well done you. 👏👏

I did the double too in rather similar circumstances. Like yours, my legs were virtually non-existent during the second run. But I made it. We both did! Go us. 🏃🏃‍♀️💪

Happy running in 2019 to you! 🎉🎉

Wow, a double dose of Parkrun. I am mightily impressed. And what lovely places to run.

Like you I was out carousing until 2am, then couldn't sleep. But I actually made it to Parkrun this morning (haven't done one since 18th March 2017) and didn't do too badly.

I'm going to try and do a few more this year.

Happy running and happy new year.

Well done Chris and a happy new year, I am just wondering if its more tiring running two separate 5Ks within 2 hours or running a 10K at once, seems from your report that the former is the most tiring. 😊 🏃

Ha, well I'm not sure as today's runs were done on 5 hours sleep and almost 2 bottles of wine in me!!!

Generally I would say a single 10k is less tiring than 2 x 5k in a short time period.

Wowwowoowow ! Well done you..:)

I was tucked up just after 10 last night, ( busy week) ... but Mr OF and I woke at 12, to the sound of fireworks... so we had a glass of bubbly! Then snugged down until morning! Glad some folk were flying the flag!!!

Yay! Well done, I did a double too, both events had a turn out of over 500, one of which smashed their previous attendance by over 200! The atmosphere was just brilliant, and best of all there were newbies at their very first parkrun ever at both events.

Fabulous start to the year 🏃‍♀️👍💪
