I did Rockhampton Park Run this morning. My Godfather has been walking 5km a day 6x per week since he retired and was going to walk it, but spurred on by the Park Run scene he walked/jogged it. Aged 75 he was placed first in his age category and only came in a few minutes after me! What a great 1st Park Run π. As for me I came in the first half of the field for the first time ever, and actually overtook a couple of runners, not just those walking it. It's my last Australian Park Run. I'm looking forward to getting away from the dreaded Sabre Toothed Ozzie Mozzies as they have been eating me alive. I fly home early next week, so there will be some interruptions to my runs while I sit on various aeroplanes for a couple of days.
Got a topical photo from the Botanical Gardens for you today...

I was overtaken many times, even on my 'sprint' finish, by someone who was about 12 who was actually sprinting. It's good to see the young ones out π
Great way to sign off down under... congrats on being in the top half, thatβs a big achievement. Your godfather is amazing, congrats to him first finishing his age grade. Have a good relax on the way home, and enjoy a nice winter run when you get back π± mozzie free though!
Nice run there BaddieThePirate ...and well done to your godfather too, 75 and running is amazing?! Those mozzies will be hungry when you leave by the sounds of it! Safe journey....and I hope youβve packed a jumper...
Thanks. I got to 8km on my last Oz run this morning. On track for the 10km, but think I'll have to buy warmer leggings for winter running. I leave Oz tomorrow.
