So Saturday came...and started at 8:31am when I opened my eyes!! Yikes..parkrun...its too late now, I'll never be ready for 9?! Dont be daft, you live across the road, you only have to get dressed, walk Monty at 100mph round the block to warm up and you're off....guess who won??? Yep, me...the 'stay in bed' gremlins stayed in bed & I jumped up, got on with what I had to do and was standing, ready for the off, at 8:55am...now for someone who doesn't particularly like parkrun this is some dedication....!! As you can see I've done 12 now so some part of me must like it or I would've been safely tucked up in bed, dreaming of sunny skies and blue sea...but no, I was here, faffing desperately with Daddycavs phone (mine was flat!!!)...he has no music on his phone so I had no choice but to listen to the radio...and it was radio two...yawn...Dermot O'Learly at a music festival at Jodrall bank...turned out to be very interesting!!!
So, count down done, off I went...the weather was like September...perfect running weather though, not too warm and 'car wash spray rain' my favourite...well, I was set for the day, didn't break any records but what a great start...some of the members of our local running group were graduating C25k as they crossed the line...and I remembered, it's about 2 years (infact its 2 years today) since i joined this brilliant forum HU...i have had the best 2 years, I've had good runs, I've had bad runs, I've had long runs and I've had short runs but each run has taken me to a different place...not literally, but here, in my head...I've run with happiness, I've run with sadness...I've run from the past, I've run into the future...and really, if someone asked me if I would stop running now the answer would be a flat NO!! Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy every run and sometimes I'm disappointed with my distance, pace, time....but I still put my trainers on and go out again a couple of days later so there must be something about running that keeps me going...I can't put my finger on it...but i def put my heart and soul into it...
Thank you to all my HU family...you are the reason I'm still running...I owe you big time xxxxx

Awww MC, and weโre all happy to have you running here with us! โค๏ธ๐โโ๏ธโค๏ธ
Well done on kicking those gremlins where the sun donโt shine and getting out there on Saturday! A fabulous start to your weekend it sounds! ๐๐๐
Thanks cheekychipmunks ...I love reading about everyone's progress on here...I'm don't post as often as I used to, I was never away at one point!! It was a great start to my weekend...I've been out again this morning and started the week off as I mean to go on x
Thanks MikeJones68 , are you not a parkrun fan?? I think of it as a kind of competition with myself to see if I can like it just that bit more each week!!! Lol x
A very inspiring post from you MummyCav, wow, that WAS quick, in bed at 8.33 am, only 27 minutes until the start of the parkrun but you made it and got started at 9 am, speedy indeed.
Glad that you enjoyed parkrun No. 12, this Saturday I will be running my second parkrun, something to look forward to.
The weather forecast for Saturday is for cooler weather, but be warned and this is for all people who are thinking about running at any time this week, especially from Tuesday to Thursday, there are to be exceptionally high temperatures, even first thing in the morning the temperature in some parts of the south of England is to be no lower than 23C/73F at its 'coolest' after being as high as 36C/97F the day before, certainly not weather for running.
Hopefully it will have cooled down by Saturday morning for the parkruns.
Good luck for your parkrun on Saturday AlMorr ...hopefully the weather will have cooled...I ran this morning, just after 9 and it was humid as heck!!! I would rather run in snow!! Glad the summer is finally here though
This is what a real runner looks like - you: somebody who puts their heart and soul into it! Well done on jumping out of bed and getting to Parkrun my lovely! Now thatโs dedication. ๐ I have yet to do a Parkrun, but plan to do one before the end of August. Thatโs my aim, anyway! (Too hot to run at 9am for me, thatโs why I keep putting it off! ๐) So happy that you are still running, MC. Happy 2 year forum anniversary! ๐๐๐
I know you like to run early doors Sadie-runs ...itvwas a bit warm this morning when I set off about 9am, I set off to work with Daddycav and he dropped me off so I could run home, I was boiling all the way!! The wind didn't help to cool me down either, it was just blowing my hair in my face!!
I'm sure you'll love parkrun, I'll look forward to reading about it when you've done it xxx
I remember it well quirkybee , your graduation run sticks in my head for some reason...I think itโs because I pictured you running with your legs crossed, or maybe I had mine crossed for you reading the report?! Hope youโre doing ok Beth xxx
I know...one minute I was asleep then whoosh, up dressed, dog walked and off! I donโt remember half of it!! We all have our reasons for running donโt we? The headspace it gives makes me think running should be advised by doctors! X
Oh... your canal route looks beautiful in that picture Mummycavโค...
It feels like we have been 'chatting' on here for more than two years, so much running going on! The ups and downs, the highs and lows, the running abroad and the hot air balloon ride!๐
Well done for taking on that Parkrun on Saturday, maybe it feels less fun because it's so close to home, a bit too familier if you know what I mean... the canal path that you run looks much more inviting, and where you clock up most of your km's I think.๐
I love reading about your running adventures, so keep them coming...we are all hooked, garmin and synchro to this running lark!๐
I know Jan, I love this picture, I love the canal, I feel so lucky to be able to share this space with the wildlife, the weather and everyone else who enjoys its beauty. I am completely different since I started running, I see the world with different eyes...a bit like when you have a baby and you see the world through their eyes...and you appreciate things a little more...
It really does seem like itโs been longer than 2 years and I feel like Iโve made some lovely friends, another benefit from running...theyโre endless! I am definitely going to post more, Iโve been a bit slack lately but that will change...I promise. Youโve got a good memory remembering my runs...do you remember the one with the police helicopter? That still makes me laugh! I remember the runs that werenโt so funny too, where I almost tripped over my lip on the way home after a bad run but posting about it on here always made me feel instantly better, the support and mutual understanding is amazing xxxx
What happened regarding the police helicopter? the mind boggles, you running along the canal and a police helicopter flying low just behind you as if you were running away from the scene of a crime which I am sure you were not!!!??
Good for you! You wear your heart on your sleeve (or running vest!) and are an amazing runner. This is indeed a brilliant forum; pretty much life & sanity saving. Keep kicking off those gremlins ๐พ๐ and have a lovely summer of beautiful runs. โ๏ธ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ผ
I do Slinkymalinki ...I always have, sometimes, when I donโt feel amazing, I come on here and people like you remind me how far Iโve come and that makes it feel amazing again....Iโm looking forward to my summer runs..hope you have some lovely ones too xxx
Thumbs up to you for making it to parkrun Bev, and leaving those gremlins behind. I have far to much faffing to do get out that quick. ๐โโ๏ธ๐
Aaaaaah. I agree, great forum full of lovely runny friends. Many of us wouldnโt have done it without this forum โก๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฃ๐โโ๏ธ๐
What in inspiration you are for others .. this is so good to read.
I've done x4 parkruns and drove to said parkrun venue last night to do a training session too. I'm finding work shifts are getting in the way.. so adapting times of day to run can be difficult.
The most difficult for me are very early mornings .. I've medication to take 1hr before food.. so my early morning dilemma is do i eat after a very early morning run.. or not ...
I'm hooked on parkruns and I've battled to get back out there ( i was ill in April that stopped me running). But reading inspirational stories on HU like yours helps folk like me !
I missed this and I apologise.... only excuse is, I had small runner in training yesterday, ( not a normal care day and today as well... ( tomorrow too )...
You have had an amazing time... and your running adventures have been and continue to be inspirational...
You have run through good, bad and very, very sad times and yet here you still are, sharing your passion with all of us... I am glad you had a super park run... and I am glad you are here with us... Thanks for sharing!
Love, love, love this post Mummycav!! You go lady!! ๐ค You slayed those bad boy gremlins big time with a Monty speed walk and Radio 2!! Dermot O'Learly at a music festival at Jodrall bank...turned out to be very interesting!!! Sometimes faffage has some great surprises to be revealed ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐. Youโre just brilliant!! ๐คฉ Youโve inspired me to take my midge feast bitten legs out for a run now too! ๐! Happy running!! โค๏ธ
I love this post. Thank you. I need to get back to regular running for all the reasons you brilliantly describe. Iโve taken time off work to support my family after some tricky times recently and so will have more time to run. This will help keep me and my head strong so that I can support everyone else.
Fantastic madmother , getting back to it will def give you the headspace that I'm sure you need after dedicating your time to your family, time is precious xx
Haha...yes. I think that was def a PB for me & one I possibly wont beat!!!
