Trying hard as a new runner to stay in my moment surrounded by this joyous season and all it brings.
Not a bauble in sight at home as I am pleased to say going off to spend it with family.
My youngest grandson (2 years) was taken to see Santa, Mum had to make a quick exit with him as it did not suit, with his not so many words, No Ho Ho Mummy.πππ
I am hanging in there with RFCβs Bank, got my gear packed for hopefully 3 runs along the Thames and trying to do my last couple of sessions at the gym before departing.
Happy with some progress and the indicative VO2 max, but still lumbered with my 10kg pot.
Cannot believe I sat down and polished/binged off a/the large box of nestles quality street.
Thatβs Christmas eating over for me.
I am just crackers.ππ
Hope I have got a grip again, get up , get out and do it.Clear the decks of all temptation and try and stay in my moment.ππ
Cannot wait to get settled back into my stuff in Jan 2019 and at least try to tick over during the festive season.
Happy running to all and all the best with your running plans.

Great to see you're sticking at it. I too have been tempted by the extra chocolates that are around this time of year (Christmas thank you gifts). I hope you have a fantastic visit and some great runs along the Thames.
If you're looking for inspiration for how to shift your '10kg pot' search for Dr John McDougall and Dr Neal Barnard (especially Barnard as he has a great understanding of the biochemistry at cellular level β mitochondria, etc.). There are lots of their talks on YouTube. Both doctors emphasise the benefits of cutting out dairy, especially cheese.
I have lost 15kg since mid-August by switching to oat milk in my tea, coconut milk on my muesli, eating vegan cheese and no meat or fish. I haven't calorie-counted, still eat chocolate and don't restrict portion sizes. I got interested, to begin with, because of the top ultramarathon runners who are vegan and claim it helped them improve their endurance. If you haven't read it, 'How Not to Die' by Dr Michael Greger is a great read.
Have a great Christmas Bob! Enjoy time with family, and donβt worry too much about the odd overindulgence. You can burn it off again later! πβ€οΈ
