A Run in The Park. Little Miss Happy

Today was the day I’ve been working up to now for 4 weeks of little, gentle, enjoyable runs after injury and now my first parkrun in nine long weeks. Decided to leave my fancy schwancy new wireless Bluetooth earphones at home because I thought I may be chatting to the tailwalker all the way round! and it would be rude to wear them. The only expectation of myself was to finish, mission accomplished.

Found it hard without music, listening to my breathing (read panting and gasping) and footfalls (read slap, slap) no kissing of feet on the ground was involved in this Oldfloss) but I did it. The first runner home completed in 17.41 (he can do half marathon in 1.19.56) so how brilliant is that? I am sooooo happy, no tech with me, but my park run result says I did it 7 seconds slower than 9 weeks ago.

Its five weeks until next magic 10k, so back to getting some regular runs in and finding some other surfaces to run on, (concrete is very unforgiving) and give it a go in my own time. Took the dogs out for walk Friday and found the Onepoto (One rhymes with only) Walk in Titahi Bay, gravel surface and some little hills too. Photo was taken from Titahi Bay looking across to Paremata, traffic build up was the after school run. I won’t need a tent or haversack, the loop is actually 6.43km not 43km - my rubbish photo editing.

Happy running everyone x

Sounds lovely, well done to you. Coming back after injury is always worrying and fretsome (is that a word?) but you did great 🙂

Well done on that Parkrun lexi, and good idea building up with regular steady runs, before taking on more distance

😊xxx

Thanks Bbr, I loved the structure of following a plan again, without worrying about pace or distance and with better weather now it should be easier to get out regularly. 🙂 x

Well done on your Parkrun Lexi, it does look a beautiful place to run. I thought I’d re-run the 10k plan after Christmas too so I will be in good company. 🏃‍♀️👏👏

It is a lovely area and quite sheltered from our winds. I’ve only run on the flat, so its time to put my big girl pants on and try some hills. So great that you will be doing the 10k plan again at the same time. Love reading your posts 🙂
