I occasionally comment on other people's posts, but it's while since I started a post myself.
I've put all thought of long runs out of my mind, they will have to come when the whim takes me. I am concentrating now on improving overall fitness with a weekly 3x30-60 minute run as the centre-piece of that strategy.
Over the last month I've been doing the Keswick Parkrun, and getting similar 30 minute results every time. Plus two more 5 to 7 Km runs on alternate days.
Unfortunately my weight has not shifted downwards, although it now hovers between 78 and 79 kilos which is way better than the 86 kilos 18 months ago. The combination of my wife's cooking and our religious observance of main meal together makes diet an issue. I'm now trying No-Lunch days when I don't run to see how I manage.
Interestingly, Oldfloss ❤ suggesting the Strength and Flexibility podcasts sparked my interest, so I have started them again this week. I tried them with C25K, but found it too much - now it seems an excellent short workout for the non-running days. I find that I have some muscle pain, and have had to get the foam roller back out - suggesting they are doing a lot of good.
Well that's the news. Just out to run the village newspaper round (only 3km, lots of stops) as an added run today....
Hope all is well with you all.
Much love,

Hello dear theoldfellow, I’m so glad that you are still up and running, whatever your distance may be. I hope it isn’t as wet up there today as it has been here.
I‘m sorry we haven’t made it up to the Lakes this year to meet you at Keswick - I blame it on this running thing taking us to other places.
Hi TOF, you are like me, I also have a beard, only started growing it 3 years ago before I started C25K.
Good post from you, it's not long before you will be running your 50th parkrun at Keswick.
Nice that you're keeping to the shorter runs.
Congratulations on losing that weight from 86 kilos down to 78kilos in a year and a half, well done.
As far as excersises, keep going, you are doing very well, I don't have a foam roller, but I do UnfitNoMores planks and pushups, I have a yoga mat and also a pair of 5K kettlebells which they say is good for your ".core"
No more cycling for me this year, back in the spring for that but I will continue with running unless the weather is very cold, snowy or icy.
Great post and super photo too! I have the t shirt too! I was so proud of it when I got it
You are running well, and enjoying it...clearly and am glad the podcasts help..If you pop across to the S and F forum, there are some ideas there for keeping us from seizing up!
I am posting there a series of exercises for our running body;
So far, feet and ankles.... calf muscles... knees this last week and hips and hamstrings to come in the next few days!
You are looking good...the weight loss is impressive. I could not miss lunch...I find I need the fuel... but we do try to follow the, Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper , adage that my Nan instilled in us ( I only weigh 8st 4lbs So it must work...
Maybe take a peek at the Michel Mosley 8 week eating regime recipes... some great stuff there...( not just for pre or diabetic folk either) the recipe works for me, just as well incorporated into our already healthy eating regime
If you want anymore info on that I could send the links...
Well done. That’s a similar running plan to my own. I’m missing out on Parkrun at the moment due to family get togethers. I’m looking forward to running at my local parkrun again next weekend. Happy running.
Good to hear from you TOF and pleased that your hamstring problem seems to be sorted. Three runs a week is a great way to go, especially with the weather turning. You’d never have thought it 18 months ago would you? I will get to Keswick parkrun with you one day 🤞🏻
