I haven’t been here for a few weeks but during that time I have had a nagging hip pain or ache, together with a slight backache. For about three weeks I have sort of ignored this as it wasn't really a major problem much during running just a bit achy afterwards. I finally decided to get a diagnosis, and apparently it’s a Hip Flexor Strain, possibly not helped by lifting weights which I also do. The upshot of this is no running or lifting weights for a couple of weeks and some stretching, oh dear back on the IC once again
Has anybody else had Hip Flexor problems?, I would interested to hear your experiences.

Well, a year ago I too was having an annoying little hip pain but it wasna going to stop me running in the fundraiser for an event that raises money for the dependents of Fallen Police Officers.
Pain got worse as I ran - but I finished it.
Hurrah for me spending the next four months in torturous Physical Theraphy because my hip had dislocated nearly an inch.
Moral is - listen to, and be nice to, ones body...it’s not about being “tough”, it’s about being respectful of it.
Hope you heal fast and are able to go back out soon OG, best wishes.
Thanks John, you are so right, I think we are all guilty of just carrying on running, nobody wants to stop even if its only for a few weeks. It makes it a bit harder when you can hardly feel the problem during the run but only afterwards. I've worked out a daily stretching routine and only lifting weights in ways that do not pull or put any tension on the hips, fingers crossed
I haven't had a problem but I have had tight hip flexors in the past and I now stretch them after every run and every gym session. But the best stretch I ever got was from a physio a few years ago. OMG it was wonderful but 😩 at the same time but afterwards it felt fab. When you've healed you could consider a physio or sports massage and ask them to stretch this area.
I also do a lot of work on my glutes because weak glutes can cause tightness in hip flexors.
Hi orangeguy, sorry to hear you back on the IC, I shall move over and make some room for you. I'm sure last time I was on the couch you were too..Mine is a strained quad, hopefully another 10-14 days and I might be clear to have a little run.
I agree with Irishprincess about getting a sports massage or stretch from physio, just amazing.
Thanks, yes lets hope we both are not on the IC for too long, well I haven't had a sports massage as yet but I think I have found every hip flexor stretch on youtube
How did they find it was a Hip Flexor Strain? What test did you do? I have burning pain in my upper legs at my psoas for a year and did MRI as well but it did not show anything wrong, when I googled tge pain I have the closest to locate the pain is shown in the meralgia parahestetica but it does not move down to my legs but it stay in the hips and lower back
