Hi, it is more than 1 year that I developed a pain in my hip, initially they though it was an hernia or psoas bursitis but I had an MRI, ultrasound and x ray that ruled out this things. They also did a steroid injection but no luck. Pain get worst after exercise, if I run I have no pain but the following day Im in agony (it does not need to be a run but I get the same pain if I walk 20 mins). Pain is at the upper part of my leg where the psoas met the inguinal ligament and by doing a bit of research on Google the closest condition to point the spot pain is called Meralgia parahestetica although I have no pain in my leg but it stay in my pelvis and radiate to my back. It came out last january 2018 after I did 2 runs of 10km each one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I am resting for 3 months from any sport but the pain is still there, any advice much appreciated!
Hip flexor/psoas: Hi, it is more than 1 year... - Bridge to 10K
Hip flexor/psoas
I wonder if you can strengthen your way out of it Keep your weight down obviously
Dr google is not really the best place to seek a diagnosis 😬.
Can you ask for a referral to nhs physio?
Thanks Misswobble! I hate googleing the syntoms but since last jan 2018 I did 5 ultrasounds, 3 MRI and 1 xray and all came negative. The docs are also confused and puzzled as they don't understand where the pain is coming from. Thats why I started to seek some help here in the hope to find someone with similar condition as I am unable to do any exercise and getting depressed 14 months without sport ☹
I would suggest going to a chiropractor or ostheopath, some of them specialise in sports people too. My mum has a problem with her psoas and she advised to do a specific stretch. Strangely last week in yoga we worked on the psoas and that area and were recommended a relaxation pose. Going to find some links for you
This is the stretch: google.co.uk/amp/s/m.wikiho...
I can’t find the other. Basically You lie on your back with your feet brought up. Use a belt or something to tie your legs together not too tight, but so that when you relax they don’t fall apart and get the support like this. Only the round part on your head should be touching the floor without bringing your own chin down or up so you might need to use a book. Lie like this for 10 minutes. It may sound like nothing but it really helps realine back and relax psoas. It’s also really relaxing.
Thanks for the link! I found that too with many others regarding the psoas release but all doctors I've seen believe the psoas is OK and the MRI did not show any problems to its structure. I was given a guided steroid injection last July that did not help at all in fact I was limping for a few days in pain. I also visited an osteopath and acupuncturist in december and january 2019 who believe is a problem at my back although the pain is at the front hip. I am 47 and very frustrated as I was told there is nothing it can be done!
