I ran a lovely 4k this morning. Night and day difference to the same run last week. Last Monday it felt sluggish and generally hard work from the off. Today’s felt springy and light. Amazing. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
So, tomorrow I have an induction at the gym we’ve joined. Would I be allowed a little runlet on the treadmill while I’m there? I promise not to make it a long one, but I’d like to have a go before I get forced inside by the weather.
Two days in a row though .... I’ve been so good observing rest days. Is it risky do you think? Should I just walk on it? (Snore 💤) I’d hate to jeopardise my progress, and I have my long run (8 or 9k) planned for Thursday.
Thanks for any advice guys. 👍❤️

Why not start it at a walk and then increase to a 5 min brisk walk, then increase to do a short run just to try it out and then go back to brisk walking again. They will show you how to make the changes so it will be useful for you. 🏃♀️👏👏
You’ll be fine. Don’t do what I did once while walking on a treadmill. I took my sweatshirt off and stopped walking - I went flying off the end! I shouldn’t be let out really. 😂
The closer it gets the more nervous I’m becoming! I hate not knowing what I’m doing - hopefully there won’t be anyone else there to watch the newbie! 😅
Thank you. 😀 I will be sensible and make it a very slow/short walk and run, just to get a hang of the controls! 👍😀
Well done on your 4k run!
I'm super impressed that you are thinking about the gym, I'd be way too scared.
For what it's worth, if I was in your position, I may well be tempted to try the treadmill, even if only for a short sub-1k run initially. Yes you should probably avoid doing consecutive days if you can, but you know your body enough to understand what's going to be OK and what isn't.
I've occasionally run on consecutive days just because I needed the mental mood lift that running gives me.
I'm sure you'll be fine if you're careful. Just be careful, OK? We don't want to see you on the injury couch now, do we?
Thanks Neil! 😀 My husband and I joined the gym together as he’s a rower and wants the use of a more modern rowing machine than the ones at his club, so he can train even more (yep, he’s obsessed with his rowing!) We won’t ever be there at the same time though!
I thought it would be nice to have the ability to avoid the really foul weather if I felt like it. We’ll see how I get one 😳 And yes I’ll be super careful and make it a tiny little run tomorrow. I’d never forgive myself if I ended up on the IC. I have an appointment soon with 10k I hope! 😀🏃♀️
I will definitely report back Maya! I’m quite nervous as I hate being a newbie at anything. Luckily it’s a tiny gym (I think that’s lucky 🤔🤔🤔), so there shouldn’t be many there to observe my fumbling! I’ll just walk a bit, then go a bit quicker, then try a short slow jog and see what happens! 😅
