Did 8K πŸ˜€

My plan this morning was to try to run 7K. The route planned included a gentle slope I've run before, and then a long fairly hill not done before. Well, much to my surprise I ended up doing 8K and another, (not planned - I was in uncharted territory! ) horribly steep hill. Can't believe I did that πŸ™ƒ. Maybe I can do 10K - possibly ??? Happy days 🐬

Strava didn't function very well, didn't map my route, or show the elevation, but I don't care, I did it πŸ˜€.

Brilliant effort. Hills as well!! Sure you can do 10k. Your 8k sounds much more positive than my 8k yesterday. I too am headed, at a very ploddy pace it has to be said, towards 10k. I get problems when I forget my age and imagine that I can keep improving pace run on run and get frustrated when it doesn't happen! My plan now (the latest in many plans, all driven by a reaction to the latest run!) is to get to 10k within Ju-Ju's plan and worry about building up pace as a separate and later exercise. I believe that I will do it through sheer determination. I think your form sounds a few stages ahead of that !! So just a question of when (and quite soon) for you ...good luck.

Hi Beachcomber66...I was doing Ju-ju's plan, then I got tripped up with holidays, grand-children and jet-lag so all went somewhat skewed! I've been floundering around over the past few weeks, but yesterday I decided enough was enough I needed to show myself I could do it - well 7K at least. So the 8k was ploddy too, bet it took me longer than yours (1hour 14 mins) but it's not the time, it's the stamina, isn't it? At least that's what I keep telling myself πŸ˜€.

So when do you go for the 10K? I thought I would give myself a month, do more hills, more 8K runs generally build up strength and stamina.

I also forget my age, and feel I should go faster. I tend to forget that many of my fellow running companions at the club are a good 20 - 30 years younger than me 😳😎🌻.

4 weeks time according to the plan. Another 8k then 2x 9ks with the shorter runs in between, before the assault on 10k. Legs felt really stiff last night, but a bit of roller work and a few stretches/ calf raises and I reckon that I am good for 4K tomorrow. My run yesterday was 1:11:19, and pace was 8:54 per km so nothing between us on time. I did 7k earlier in the programme at 7:58 but was pretty shattered at the end! Maybe the answer for me lies somewhere between. Main point is feeling good about it and, in my case, keeping the average heart rate down in the upper 130's lower 140's on the long runs. Compare notes in a month's time😊

Thank you for your support. OK Beachcomber66 we shall catch up in 4 weeks time. I wish you well and happy running. It's a gentle 5K for me 2moro with a new graduate of C25K, which will be a good recovery run, but potentially a wet weather one β˜”οΈ.

Enjoy your run 2moro, and happy running πŸ˜€.
