Well I planned on doing my long run tonight, 8K. As my running club run was near home and 6k. I decided to do that and then run straight home, or at least as far as I could and hopefully 8k. The club run was the hill training course I did two weeks ago and it was tough. It starts and ends a third of the way up the Wrekin and the run is around it; undulating is an understatement lol. I then left the group and set off for the 2mile route home; mostly lots of downhills with a short hilly bit in the middle. I planned on seeing how far I could get and ended up running to the 9.5K point, with the final half K brisk walking for a recovery. 10K in total. Although the downhills felt relatively easy I can tell I’ve probably overdone it, as I’m “aware” of my muscles and joints now. No pain but they know they’ve been worked 😂
So in the interest of not overdoing the weeks mileage, I guess I’ll do a shorter midweek short run and then finish with the 5k parkrun on Saturday. Does that sound sensible?

Wow, 9.5k - amazing! Hope the "awareness" of muscles and joints recedes - maybe take a couple of rest days before the next one, just in case? Then you could still squeeze in a Parkrun on Saturday.
Thanks Debston, I think you are right. I Should do 2 rest days but my run club night is Wednesday. But, the club are doing a short 2k timed option so I might try that if there are no aches or pains throughout tomorrow. If there is then I’ll rest until Thursday and then do the parkrun at Telford on Sat 👍🏼
Hope your niggly hip is feeling better with rest. We do really need to listen to our bodies, don’t we 😳😜
That sounds like a good plan. Yes, it's my niggly hip that's making me sound a note of caution! It's been a lot better today, thanks - still not right but definitely feels like it's on the mend. I'm hoping to be ok for Parkrun on Saturday...
Thanks Stephen. I seem to be making it hard for myself with trying to merge my magic plan with my new club runs. But I am delighted with my own progress and I know I would have given up if I’d tried to continue on my own; I really struggle with the negative self talk gremlins then. Group support, both here and at club, have really helped me banish them and find my run groove. Can’t believe the new me 😂😂
Wow Dottie, that run sounds, er, challenging! You certainly don't go looking for the easy option, what a cracking 9.5. You might need the extra day to recover, I'm pretty sure you'll know if you do! 🙄 Good luck
Thank you. Bizarrely the only muscle ache I have today is in my forearms. What’s all that about ?😂 but it is only day one, tomorrow might be more achey lol
Ha ha definitely not from hoovering. I have to admit that my new found obsession with running (including checking in on here) has left me next to no time for housekeeping 😂😂😂. But I feel great and no longer care if it looks a little unkempt at home 😉😜
Thanks. The one thing I do know for sure is that I do need a decent warm down. If I’d run the last 500k I’d have had to keep walking away from home again 🤪😂😂
