Hiya! Just finished my post-run routine of drinking pints of squash and stretching. This will be shorter than my usual ramble because Iβm downing some carbs in the hope Iβll be OK for Saturday Parkrun π€£
It was a similar route to the 9.5k last week, with a repeat short leg at the end. You were all there running with me individually at certain points, and as a group too - I hope you all know how special youβve made this journey and how much Iβve learned from youβ€οΈ
The last km was a slog, I shallnβt lie - only because the outside of my leg started to pull. But up to that point it was running nirvana! Different lacing worked (no bruised toenails) different socks didnβt (a blister for the first time running!) - and no idea why my shoulder now hurts because I was deliberately trying to relax my upper body - still learning! Still, the splits showed we were 14s per km quicker on this run than the 9.5k - which I was gobsmacked about!
The icing on the cake was that weβd just finished and a guy walking his dog said βHave you ladies thought about joining the running club?β And he was SERIOUS! π€£π So I had to explain I had just finished my first 10K, and I was 50 next week, and and and... (π§ to π: shut up, woman! π€¦πΌββοΈ).
Happy running everyone - I shall sleep very well tonight if I donβt overload on pasta ππΎπ πβ

Thanks pink! Glad to have broken that barrier! Was reminiscing with the running buddy, now the leaves are falling and when we started C25k they were all bright green and new π
Yay!!! Well done EG! Welcome to the 10k club! ππββοΈπ₯β€οΈππππππΎπ₯π β€οΈ
Enjoy that pasta. Just laughing at myself, as read your post a bit too quickly, and was wondering what on earth youβd been doing the splits for!! πππ
Very sweet! If youβd told me when I started C25k on 14th May I would be running 10K in less than 5 months, and enjoying it, I would say you were being stunningly over-optimistic π€£π€£
Youβre just amazing Equi!! Fantastic! Brilliant run by a brilliant lady!! Well done! Let me know where the running club is!! π€£ πππππ½ππ½ππ½β€οΈ
Thanks Fabulous β€οΈβ€οΈ! Just squeezed in the 10 before my 50th πΎ and only a week behind my training plan when I started aiming at the GSR - so not too bad! I may do PR tomorrow - very very slowly! The club is Wootton Bassett Hounds (clever name!) and Iβve seen them out. He says they do different distances according to ability/choice on Wednesday, and Monday is running sets/technique. Itβs a safer option in the dark winter evenings if my running buddy wants to keep training ππ
So pleased about your own personal birthday gift!! Fantastic achievement!ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈππΌββοΈπ
Good idea about the club! They have Swindon Harriers over on my side on a Tuesday for beginners too! I think youβre right about the safer option. Iβm considering switching to a lunch time run as Iβm away quite often. It will take a new discipline to stop working and do that though. Then get dressed and go back to it???!! π±π±π±! But I know a lot of people do that. Unfortunately I donβt get dressed too quickly! π³ Weβll see! πβ€οΈ
Yes, Iβve seen the Harriers at Lydiard too ππ Iβm a bit nervous about clubs - I pushed too hard at the swim club and damaged my shoulder, just because I wanted to complete the training sets for once rather than run out of time. Lunchtimes would work for me very well - Iβm not great in the evening! Stella works full time and canβt spare the time needed at lunch so if she continues weβll be running in the dark π¬
I did thanks! Downed 3 pints of squash and 2 pints of cider - not great for weight loss or the training but I am going alcohol free now until after the GSR! π
Yay you did it! (Knew you would!) Congratulations on your first 10km, Equi, beautifully done. Itβs a great distance and a great achievement. πππ
I was Razouski, thanks! Iβm about to get ready for Parkrun this morning as a very very careful and slow recovery run. Might only do one lap of the two actually running - Iβm interested to find out what impact this run has had π€
