When is a 10k not 10k?

When you’ve been looking at the wrong bloody week on your plan, that’s when! Absolutely convinced that I was running 10k today. Set off a little later than planned, too much faffage. Down the country lanes and into the town, a run I’m growing to love despite it being on tarmac... round the park... and then past the pubs that my 5ks have been ending at (which would be great if they were open) down and out of town... past the tip, not breathing hard fortunately and down to the water works... turned at the gate for a run that should have taken me to the garage for a sports drink and buzz, watch says I’m done. Maybe I’d measured the route wrong on Friday (some cider was consumed beforehand) stop... save... 5.5 miles! Longer walk than planned to get home, but a shop that sells lucozade sport in 750ml cheaper than the garage or supermarket do 500ml ones.... nice walk up into town. Then got home, grabbed my phone and checked my plan... yes, 10 k is next weekend... ah well.

Picture is of puppies recently, a few days old, a couple of weeks, and the hairless dog is their mother. They’re 9 months old and love a slow C25K interval session... the female runs just in front between the daughter and I, and the male (with the stripe) completes the diamond running just behind... sometimes impromptu sprints it the lead pup sees a squirrel.

Happy running everyone.

Good run . The dogs are beautiful by the way. They have a changed a lot from there 1st pic.

Thanks... and 20k steps by lunchtime!

They have changed a lot and are generally inseparable, which was great as they didn’t fret when they first came home with us. The only worry we have is the vets are emergency only, and our boy needs a little op before our girl comes into season... so far so good, but having to check all the time ready to separate them.

Here’s hoping the vets get back to normal for you sooner rather than later so you can get him sorted.

Yeah... for now I’m enjoying cuddles with him... he’ll hate me for a while after 🤣

Boys do tend to sulk more than the girls so you could be right. I’ve got one of each and the boy is a big softie.

Indeed... we intend to breed the female when she’s 2, and also the surgery for him is a lot less intrusive than hers would be.

I think she would make gorgeous pups.

Here’s hoping... a few puppies and I can have lots of new shoes 😂🤣🤣

That sounds like a really good and well thought out plan .

Awwwww those pups! 😍😍😍😍😍

One day I’ll work out how to load a training plan into my watch - many steps too far at the moment though! 🤦‍♀️

My Garmin will only take one run at a time. The ones that can take a workout sent them via connect, which can be done manually... not sure if they can automatically receive anything that isn’t a Garmin plan, but seems easy to create a workout and add it to the calendar.

I have only two irritations with Garmin at the mo:

I can set up all run types apart from intervals on my phone... and it’s fiddly to do the intervals because of irritation #2

Changing from km to miles isn’t as easy as it should be, so setting up interval runs is a big task for someone who normally trains in miles. If I want to do a regular run 5k I just tell the app 5k and the watch syncs and shows 3.1 miles... then measures exact for the difference.

And that is the reason I don’t even attempt doing fiddly things with my Garmin! 😅

My Nike plan has intervals of 9 or 10 reps. Nightmare. I’ve just got an app that gives me vocal prompts I’ve needed help setting it up as it wasn’t easy for me☺️ I don’t know if I’ve quite cracked it yet. Going again tomorrow with 7 intervals of ? Metres. I forget how many. I didn’t get a prompt to start running again after the break between each interval. It’s IntervalsPro. It’s cost £8. My son bought it me 😁.

Sounds good. My watch can deal with the Nike ones... just a pain putting them in... not sure it’s £8 worthy, but will see! Can it do intervals that aren’t all the same?

Yes! 😁

Awww look at them!....😍... amazing run! Good job matey x

UnfitNoMoreGraduate10 in reply to Dee_N

Thanks... they may look all cute and innocent, but they must cover about 30k a day tearing round the house looking for mischief... they’re great at finding it too, but I’m getting a little better at thinking like a puppy and removing things 🤣

Pahaha! That description sounds like my 1year old. Maybe she is secretly a puppy! She does actually carry objects around in her mouth from room to room! 🙄

UnfitNoMoreGraduate10 in reply to Dee_N

Yep... things will gradually get higher and higher for you 🤣

The trouble with 2 is that one sometimes runs distraction while the other swipes something. Today one was all over me when I got back from the supermarket and the other made off with the sausages 🤣

Aw lovely dawgs 😃

They’re little tinkers for sure. They act in concert the clever clogs A lady in the park has two dogs and the poodle stands on the Labrador to nick stuff off the worktops 😁

How frustrating for you. 🧡

Puppies are always welcome. 😍😍😍

I’m ok with running my plan... but yeah, was looking forward to 10k... numbers 🤣. Was going to start taking a nice picture at the end of my runs for Strava from today... but as all I could see was the tip again, I decided to wait until the next run 🤣

C25K for daughter tomorrow so puppies will be happy... for me it’s almost a brisk walk, but I do the running motion for Little Miss’s sanity... Nike must be confused as all my interval sessions come in with really slow paces 🤣

Great you got a run in anyway even if you did get the distance wrong🤣

But just look at those puppies they are so beautiful, thanks for the photos🐕🐕

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate10 in reply to Buddy34

Thanks... was a good run, but I’d have planned a better route if I’d got the right run in my head... still, that means I already have my route set for next week, there’s always a plus side to my errors... if I look hard enough.

Getting the beautiful good puppies right now... funny how they are so calm and sit nicely when their leads have just been brought into the house 🤣

Sounds like a great run UNM!! 😁 And the puppies are adorable too!! 🤩🤩❤️

Was fun out there, and very early for me... almost don’t know what to do with my day now.

What georgous little running companions.

My jack Russell boy never minded going to the vet until they removed his crown jewels! Then he hated him with a passion ever since. He was PTS last November at the good age of 16 years. I miss his fiesty little character.

Not had dogs in the house for 20 years... already I know I’d miss them if they were gone. Both of these are also on with the vet so far... won’t last 🤣
