Youtube threw up this little gem last night for me to watch and it really made me think I need to add this as a run in my week, it's hard to refuse it if the idea that 4 x 30 seconds flat out will have such a significant improvement.

We used to do hill sprints after a slow jog to build muscle quick, looks like this is the science behind it. I’ll watch the full thing later.

HIT training is very effective. As the programme say starting this by sprinting on a hill is not a good idea. Whatever gets your heart rate up: starjumps, rowing machine, mountain climbers, burpees, i.e. anything cardio that pushes you into the anerobic (without oxygen) zone. Great for shredding fat, but I would do it for no more than 10-12 weeks at a time without a break.

Very interesting, thanks for posting that. I have to work MUCH harder when I do intervals, but I will try and build this is to my routine.

Thanks for this. Food for thought. I run twice a week, cycle commute four days but could probably build in one session of this...

Hi Colin,

This is powerful information on this video.

The HIT recommendation for mitochondria renewal/ replacement and VO2max increase if you wanted to follow it , as shown , is 6mins a week total, and done in 3 sessions. With the 30 secs sprint and 4.5 mins return heart to resting, x4 it is a 20 min session. So it is actually one hour a week.🤔

For anyone that is fit and medically cleared to go and their priority is their health and wellness this becomes a priority over low intensity and more enjoyable running.

I do not think it is a partial bolt on.

Of course all the speed intervals stuff must have the same impact and static bike.

I am no medic but this is the most important piece of research I have seen in my 75 years on this earth.

Atb with whatever you do, and you are doing amazing stuff already.

💥🏃‍♂️💥☄️👏👏
