Can’t run with Jo because of our outbreak at work, she can’t risk it. The start of my 6 days off, unfortunately we have no night staff so i’m covering tonight, praying i don’t have to cover sunday night as well.
Back to our usual run round the park, no wind to speak of and a cloudy sky, 5 minute warm up walk and start the watch and run 🏃♀️
Three quarters of a kilometer in and I’m done, legs feel good but breathing too hard, drop to a walk, half a dozen strides and I’m running again.
I hear you all in my head “SLOW DOWN” you all shout, 🤣🤣🤣
So I slow down get my breathing under control…. listen in to my body… Is that a cough? is that a sore throat? 😂🤣😂 probably not!!
20 minute run, some of it too fast, some of it comfortable, dunno what happened to Willow, we waved a few times when we got glimpses of each other in different parts of the track and hugged at the end.
There was another guy running round the track, and one dog with its owner, otherwise it was empty, someone’s cut the grass again too so it looks lovely and smooth and green, I meant to go back and take a pic but forgot.
We won’t talk about Jo again, she’s broke all the rules, 5k with me Wednesday 6k on her own Thursday and threatening to go further and push her speed today, I have warned her of the risk of injury but these young uns just don’t listen
Keep running, keep safe

I am always shouting slow down at myself as feel so much better than walking a bit, hope you manage a couple nights off from tomorrow, sounds like you need it, stay safe and well 💗
I’m only covering night because there is no one else 😂 I have been working extra long days because we have an outbreak and staff keep going in to isolation but I’m supposed to be on leave now so a little miffed
Too bad you can't take rest like you're meant to. And indeed, how dare Jo run on consecutive days and so much so fast too! Good thing you warned her, even though it might be going in one ear and out the other.
Well we can’t run together for the next few weeks, the joys of Covid, and I think she’ll find my slow plod boring by the time we run together, if she’s going faster and further I wouldn’t even try to keep up I don’t want an injury, running 10k really slowly is my limit all the time I’m working full time
How proud you should be that you introduced Jo to C25k W&S, and you are not responsible for what she does now. Even members of the forum who get all the links and warnings can get carried away, many leaning the hard way (I include myself here 😂).
I hope cases are contained in your care home. Work is tough enough For you all without Covid spreading too.
half positive and half negative, so far only a few staff, but I’ve heard more staff today so not ended yet and one lady in hospital. We are in shock and everyone still working are working such long hours we can’t see an end yet. I’m just enjoying short 20 minute runs and can do those every day for a while, Garmin loves them too 😀
Yeah me too I’m 45 fitness age at the moment and my lowest was 42 so that’s what i aspire to, short runs do me the world of good without exhausting me.
Good run for you today , glad you got your breathing under control 😁👍Also glad to hear you warned Jo , I thought that when you said about the 5k to be honest . And now 3 consecutive days still pushing distance AND speed , asking for trouble unfortunately !
Well it’s her body but she has had a bit of a lecture over text when she told me she did 10k 7k running and 3k walking but she is off work so well rested, I was a bit jealous because i’ve been working 10 plus hours a day and am shattered so my short run was all i could do
Well done Sola on your walk running, and hope willow new trainers good. At least you’ve warned Jo what could happen to her not to increase, hopefully no injuries. Take. Care of yourself , don’t overdo it.
Thanks Doris, she’s had a bit of a lecture by text, but she is younger and lives on a steep hill which she walks a lot with her dog, and etc etc but she has agreed to a rest day and do a shorter run next time, she ran 7k and walked 3 today 🙄😲🙄hence the lecture, at her stage I was barely dragging myself round, but then she’s off work so well rested. I’m working tonight and after a sleep will have another quick 20 minute run tomorrow
Hi Sola, sorry to hear about the unwanted night shift. There are a scary number of covid cases where I live, but it seems thankfully that the vaccines are protecting people. Even those I was really worried about are recovering without getting really poorly - fingers crossed it will be the same for you at work. Meanwhile that's a nice run even if running with a Tigger has played havoc with your pacing 😁
I loved the run in the end, I wash my hands of her, we will meet up when we can again but I think running with me will prove boring. Thank you, well they are vaccinated but it’s still very scary 😟 the people who live there are so vulnerable, one lady is in hospital but doing ok at the moment, staffing is the big challenge, it cost a fortune to pay me overtime to work a night but there is literally no one else and i’m not doing it for nothing
Sounds like those 20 minute runs are just what you need! It’s true that there is a big difference with working or not…I started running when I retired…I’m finding it hard now I’m back working.
Too right that they are paying you overtime…I at least can choose to ignore emails asking for availability as I’m on the bank…doesn’t stop me feeling guilty though!
COVID rates are high in Wales, but at least the vaccinated people are generally less poorly…although sadly there are exceptions ☹️
Thank you so much, I really enjoyed my night but think I’m about to crash, a little run later hopefully and good news one of our night staff is coming back 😀 I think i worked more when i was bank because i couldn’t say no 😂
