I couldn't motivate myself to run yesterday despite the beautiful weather, I was just too tired, then later on too hungry. So today straight after work I changed in to my running gear and went off to explore a road which I had often wondered where it went.
It started with a hill, and continued in the same vain. I'm rubbish at hills and have to admit I had to walk a couple of the really steep bits. I have never been so glad to stop and stand aside for a tractor! 2 mins respite. I've added a photo of a steep bit. It was 10 times steeper than it looks though.
While we're doing confessions I've been having a hard time mentally with the idea of running another 8km. All that hard work and no increase in distance to show for it?
So I added the extra km and did 9km. Sorry, I just had to.
Now I've found some really pleasant hilly bits I've an idea of doing interval training up them to see if I can get better at hills...
...but that is for another day. I think when I get to the big 10km day I will do that one on the flat. Thinking of taking a bus and running home for the biggy.

Great post! Well run! I’d love to be a bit braver with my routes but don’t want to take any risks at the moment - maybe over winter I’ll explore a bit more 😁👍
I get bored easily, that's why I'm trying different routes and different things. Just reading up about intervals. I think I'm going to do more experimenting with them. Sounds like there're hours of fun available that way 😉
Lovely photo BaddieThePirate it looks beautiful (especially when you turn the picture to the left to cut out the incline 😂). I hate hills too, but they are good for building strength. No need at this stage to do intervals on them. Just doing hills in themselves will give your legs a good workout).
Intervals and fartleks are good too. Have you used the C25K+ podcast Speed. It's an interval workout. I've used it a few times , but then went on to using C25K week 1 from the app, and replaced the walking for comfortable running and the running bits with a faster paced run. This was I didn't have to keep looking at my watch for the instruction to change speed, and having Michael Johnson talking to me again was helpful with my own music to keep me from boredom.
Like you I also have a low boredom threshold so have to change my routes a lot. Getting the bus and then running back home sounds like a plan...
Oh, if you mean walking and running intervals I think you're probably right. I thought you meant you were going to do speed intervals... which would be self-flagellation taken to a whole new level. 😂😂😂
I went out for a short 4km recovery run today with the local group and got some coaching from the lovely lady who runs it (pun intended). I ran up a hill without stopping, just through her coaching. I had a really easy, very, very slow run while chatting with a couple of people and really enjoyed it. And yes I can chat and run! I used to think that was so clever so I'm over the moon I'm now up to that level.
