I took on Storm Ali tonight and won!
I did swither tonight about going out, watching the trees being blown around on the way home from work and trying to second-guess how bad it was and just what 30 mph winds π¬ look like.
After I got home I thought I'd step outside into the garden and see what was what - granted it was a little sheltered, but I decided I'd give it a go and turn back if there was any danger of being blown into oncoming traffic! ππββοΈπ¬
At 1K the torrential rain π§ didn't win, I had Pinkπ€πΆ for company and pipped the Storm a little on spotting a rainbow π around 2K.
At 3K the Storm raised the stakes throwing in some driving wind,πͺ I saw the Storm and fought right back, increasing my pace at 3.5K for the last half K. Not a great pace against the wind, as you'll see from the screenshot, but a final sprint nonetheless and I'm taking it for the winning point!
The week was fine-tuned, a tricky balance of work, studies, kids, school, nursery, running and you know breathing! So, no way was my training schedule being interupted without good cause.
Saartjie , you'll be pleased to hear my new outfit got it's second airing and in tonight's conditions was perfect. I added my new headband to protect my ears from the wind and it was perfect. Not as thick as I thought, but effective.
Not the most exciting write-up, and perhaps the first of many enduring runs heading into the winter months. Still running, still winning and still loving my new venture.
