I’ve decided that for me running very first thing in the early morning is the best.
This started when we had the hot weather and it was just too warm to run later in the day.
Now the weather is cooler, I have done a few runs later on and I just def feel better if I fall out of bed at stupid o clock and run. The darker mornings will not be my friend 😔
Looking forward to week 2!

Well done Elles78, first week done for you. I need a cup of tea , half a banana and a sit on the pot before I run so around 9.00 is good for me. Ooops , probably 9.15 today. Where has time gone?
When I did my park run on Saturday I had some water and a banana about an hour before I ran and for the first time had a stitch!!! I’ve tried running straight after a night shift and that was just not fun. So for now I’m going to stick with the early mornings! Enjoy your run!
I'm with you on not eating or drinking before going on the early morning runs - was back home at 7 am after a 5k today !! I know then I've had my run and can get on with the rest of the day. Dreading the clocks changing and the winter weather setting in so may have to rethink my times.................
Mornings for me too, every time. Water, half a banana, cup of tea and out. I've starting to oogle flourescent running wear , only really I'm more anxious about being on lonely tracks and fields rather than road safety when the clocks change.
Week two will come easy and it sound like you're having fun.
As long as you are happy with the area of trails you run in, observe the usual safety stuff and wear hi viz you will be ok I reckon. The only thing I find is that I frighten myself at times with the shadows from my torch - my very own zombie run 😂.
I agree with the early runs - I'm out at 5.30, nothing to eat or I get stitch, and back home in time to have a shower before work. Dark mornings are a worry and I've recently bought a panic alarm (as my OH worries about me!) and take the dog as a deterrent. I've also ordered a fluorescent running vest with lights on and I always run in lit areas if at all possible and try not to worry (which is easier said that done :0). I've just started week 2 also, so will be at a similar place to you.
