Hi everyone, Iβve just finished my first outing as a marshal at Parkrun this morning. I really enjoyed it ππ
For those considering Parkrun, Iβd say get out there and do it! πββοΈ
For those already doing Parkrun, Iβd suggest volunteering if you donβt do it already. It really is worthwhile and gives you a different perspective on it all. π
Happy running everyone, enjoy your running, whatever youβre doing and wherever youβre running πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

If you can shout and clap then youβre ideal marshal material! π ππ Yes, give it a go and see how you get on. Iβm intending to volunteer every 5-6 weeks so itβs not too onerous and itβs nice to give something back for the support theyβve given me π
I completely agree David. I marshalled at out Parkrun this morning and thoroughly enjoyed clapping and cheering everyone to the finish. Itβs great to run at Parkrun but they only happen because of the time given by volunteers. It is so worthwhile ππββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Well done David_G, and good luck with your race tomorrow. Stanley has just signed us up for token sorting next week so we can run and volunteer on the same day.
Thanks to your post I was inspired to volunteer at Park Run last week, and it was great fun! I wasn't running on Saturday as I had a race on Sunday so thought I would volunteer instead. I was a marshal, shouted myself hoarse congratulating everyone! Really nice to give a little back. Thank you for your post! π
Thanks Mutley, Iβm glad you enjoyed it! πππ Iβm doing a 5 mile cross country timed run on 30 Sept (my first proper βeventβ) so Iβm volunteering as a marshal on Saturday 29 Sept as I donβt think I should run 2 days in a row at this stage. π³
Good luck with your running and volunteering- they go very well together! π
I was tail runner last week! I really enjoyed it! So different to running - relaxing and able to see it from a completely different perspective ππ½
Must be the day of the couch25k volunteer! My son and I were halfway marshals today. We had two jobs - to put out a cone and start a stopwatch. Managed the cone but phone problems meant I couldn't hear the start so couldn't start the stopwatch so no halfway split times for our runners unfortunately βΉοΈ
We gave lots of encouragement to make up for it - including to random members of the public who weren't even in parkrun ππ€£
Well done David for volunteering. I definitely plan to do that soon. Makes you appreciate all the people that give up their time to help every week π
