Steady as she goes

β€’17 Replies

A good steady long run this morning..definitely more of a chill in the air and a lot darker only really just daylight.

GPS was slooow in syncing and gave some varied Km splits ranging from 9.19 to 5.59 hmmm overall right on the money with my long run av pace.

Took different fuel/snack today, Fig Rolls very yumm and supposedly quick to digest .will take again on next long run. Still undecided on hydration vest .. off to runners needs later to look again ..

New shoes on order .pic to follow on arrival.. co incidence had a 15% discount code for sportsshoes.com.. checked on line and they had the shoes i wanted this years model, result !!

Final day of 4 week wall sit challenge.. 2 minutes .. hopefully helping with leg strength will continue with wall sits adding to my evening exercise list ..

Overall a good week ... good times 😁😁

If you’ve eaten your scheduled meal you should be ok without snacks for a bit. I agree, a fig roll is a great one though πŸ™‚. I am looking at a pack for an unsupported ultra I’m planning but they are ridiculously expensive

I run on empty 1st thing in morning it is literally up,dress quick glass of water and out the door , today that was just after 6am .. take snacks to keep me going 😊 it's probably as much a psychological thing as a fuelling thing ..

There does seem to be quite a price spread depending on brand etc .

Yes a snack does break the run up and give you a breather and something to look forward to I make my own snacks Peanut powerflapjack as per a recipe on here

Shouldn't really need snacks for 11k unless you need to put on some weight.

Wall sit's sound like my sort of exercise, do you just sit on them like humpty? :)

That is a long run Slow_Rob, and not that slow. I guess the longer you run, the quicker you are going to have to replace your shoes! It’s always good to find a discount on something you want. I like the idea of fig rolls to sustain you but I don’t think I can justify carrying them with me yet .....

Thanks Dexy5 it was very lucky really 😊 looking forward to getting them hopefully Monday next week.

Good distance rob. Lovely x

Thanks Hidden more than happy with the distance ... no long run next week then onto 14Km fingers crossed 😊

β€’ in reply to

I've yet to do 14km. I was going for it this week, but circumstances were against me. Good luck with yours :)

Thank you 😊 and with yours 😊

Good run, Rob and sounds like there is a fair bit of shopping going on there too!πŸ™‚ I bought a cheaper version of a camel backpack when I was training for my HM... have to admit I never used it and just stuck to my belt! Might dig it out as my runs get longer again and give it a try though. πŸ™‚

Thanks Sandraj39 I can't decide between belt, vest or camelbak erring towards vest I think 😊

Well done on a good run, Rob. Think I’d need to drink loads if I tried eating Fig Rolls. Just carry a few unused Jelly Babies β€œjust in case” for now.

Can’t remember who I’ve shared the link with, but I’m very happy with this cheap hydration vest...

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07...

Loads of pockets, and I use it with my hillwalking hydration bladder. It’s quite big on me, but I find once I’ve settled into a smooth steady pace it doesn’t move around and I don’t notice it.

Thanks mountaindreamer that looks like the sort of thing and a good price too 😊
