Hard work but worth it!!

10k completed today but boy was it hard!! Put normal attire on, warmed up and off I went. Short distance into the run, I was boiling hot and stripping off, at that point I knew it was going to be a hard run. Settled into my run and I remember thinking that it was early but continued. After what felt like quite a distance, I checked only 4.8k done, gutted as I was hoping to get a 10k done as working 6 nights now. It was my last chance till next week so trudged through, getting quite heated with the gremlins and arguing with myself, pushing through the barriers. Admittedly I did start walking a couple of times but gave myself a kick and picked up the pace again. I think I experienced what people call ‘ hitting the wall’ today but all that went out the window when I eventually got home and discovered that I had knocked 2 and half mins of my previous time 😁😁 no wonder it was a hard run 🏃🏻‍♀️

Hey - well done! I did my first 8k run tonight - I was also stripping off at the 1km point, and having some serious conversations with my gremlin (roger) halfway round, so glad to hear I’m not the only one 😊

It was unexpectedly warm here today, used to icy cold now 😂 will have to rethink attire I think 🤔

I’m seriously considering my options for Parkrun on Saturday though - with a “feels like “ of -7 and snow in the forecast, should I add a layer, or stay in bed?????

Well done AJ, I can certainly relate to the over heating. I daren’t go out in anymore than a long sleeved running shirt and shorts or I’m cooking 😰

Thanks Ted, I’m definitely going to have to rethink things, I like being able to hide in a thin jacket but had it wrapped around my waist today which also made my run difficult.

Well done Ajs. I wish I could relate to the overheating but we are still cold here. Nice work on the run. 2.5 min is huge!

Last 2 runs I've realised I'm gonna need some new kit :) Started in October with furry lined running tights, now need something cooler, cooler in all respects as I've spent the winter with gloves off and tucked into my tights by 15 mins in! What to wear for temp & distance seems surprisingly complicated. I hate having jacket off and tied round my waist so prefer to be cold as I set off. What do others do? Happy running

I’m lost now it’s getting warmer 😂 maybe I’ll just get rid of the lightweight jacket as it was horrible having it around my waist but the pockets are handy for all my bits 😂

Thin wind and water resistant running jacket over running top with long sleeves, and running leggings, running gloves - which are removed after ten minutes but stow in a pocket. I just unzip the jacket if I get hot. The top is wicking material so keeps me warm/cool and dry...not that I sweat a lot running outside. If it's very cold, buff round throat and hat on head: hat squeezes in pocket and buff can be wrapped round my wrist. That's it, no matter how cold (and I'm a cold body). Forget fleecy stuff - you just end up too hot.
