Hello fellow runners, how are you all doing? I have just got back from a very wet 5k, the second this week and I plan to fit in a third before the end of the week. My original plan after achieving 10k was to try and regularly do longer distances but life and commitments seemed to have got in the way recently. I am now thinking three 5k’s a week might be a more achievable aim at least for the moment. I was wondering what everybody else is doing, do you have a weekly plan or do you just run when you can and to varying distances?

What are you doing after graduating?
Hi orangeguy My aim is to do one long run a week 10K+ and then do another 2 shorter runs around 5k. I find after the longer run I need a shorter run to recover!
However going forward weather will forecast (☺️) which runs I do and when.
Well done on your running. 🙌🏼
I was curious to know how you were increasing distance, Alka. I couldn’t remember what I’d seen posted before, and wasn’t sure if I’d need to have a plan to increase the 2 shorter runs somehow too. 2 shorter ~5k + 1 longer sounds a simpler aim after consolidating, if I ever decide to go beyond 10K...
I’ve increased by 2km every week to 2 weeks since reaching 10K. I’m playing it by ear a bit to see how my body responds. More aches after longer runs so have increased rest days to 2-3. I’m not planning to increase beyond 15k yet! 😊
In between I aim for 5k x 2 but see how I feel when I’m out. 😏
I generally run on alternate days and aim to do one long run a week (not always 10k+ but anything beyond 7k) I also do a shorter run 2.5-3k usually intervals or something hilly then the one or two other runs are usually 5kish.
As well as this I also vary where I run (always choosing scenic long runs) and what I listen to - sometimes my own music, sometimes audio fuel or pod runner tracks (I use these to help with upping my pace or intervals) or a good podcast or radio drama.
This way I find I always look forward to my next run keep from being bored.

Just a quick peep to see what it's like... Oh! it's equally lovely! I know these people! It's not just for marathons? Brilliant!...and then before you know it you've got a new comfy forum on the regular list 😊
Assuming I get there, a beer, a slice of cake and a lie down
Hi
I’ve not graduated from 10K (now sure how ? Perhaps you can enlighten me??). But I completed C25k in May. Since then I have scheduled all my runs in my diary in advance- longer runs at the weekends where possible and fitting the schedule around home & family commitments. I then don’t have to think when I’m going to run - if the diary says run I run! This has helped fit in some longer runs & with consistency. Like you I can fit in 5k on work days so have been doing three shows a week - where a run falls on a weekend (I try to do every other day) i’ve scheduled more time for the run. Each diary entry for the next month tells me what my run target is for that day, whether distance or time. Works for me 🤗🏎
Are you not following Ju-ju's 10k plan?
I try to do a 5k, 10k and a long run onto 20k (only got to 14 so far) every week. Often work and life doesn’t allow it, but keeping momentum is more important. So carving out an hour here and there is all I can manage some weeks. I often find I can sneak a run in before the kids get up, especially in these lighter mornings.
Yes I totally agree, life does seem to get in the way of running at times, I still find that even though I'm semi retired 😊 ... My runs vary and sometimes have to be shorter on what I call 'bad running weeks' but I always try to fit in three a week even if they are shorter.
