Hi there , welcome to the third week of the Quest.
How are your targets or goals coming along, now that the weather is, for some of us feeling fresher.
Still so much variation in our running weather, but many of us are getting the runs in, and achieving great things too!
The runs are always out there and always waiting for us.. so, if you are able, let us know how it's all going and get out there and enjoy those runs!
Please, remember that we should aim to be prepared for anything the weather throws at us...including good hydration, ( every day ) and of course.. sunscreen!
So.... healthy and happy running everyone as we head onwards!
What the Quest is:-
The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.
The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the Quest until the end.
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and safe week.

It:s good to know you are alongside me on this...and with Pilates added in for good measure! I struggle with exercises at home where the audience is, shall we say, 'unappreciative' of my efforts! 😉
Lol! You have it all worked out 👍. There are 4 of us in my house, 2 teenagers, a very poorly retired friend, and loads of mobility equipment...the middle of the living room floor or squished down the side of my bed are the only 2 spaces available...which is one of the many reasons why I like to run. 🙂
Imagine if you didn’t run. Lives might be at risk. I think you need to claim a mat space somewhere. They’ll get used to it. I close my ears to « stretching shouldn’t hurt ». That’d be the rolling but I don’t explain. 😳
I would like to join please - I graduated this week (yesterday) yippee!!! And I would like to increase the distance I can run in 30 minutes and run 3 times per week. I’m soooooo pleased to be here!
Continuing ju-ju-‘s programme with W5. Done the 5k and 4K, the latter this morning with a fastest time. Jumping to 9k this weekend rather than repeating the 8k as that went so well on Saturday.
Well I've sadly said goodbye to lovely Cornish runs and coastal walking but have kept up the running on alternate days and am still having fun - which is my August target. Used the audiofuel 180 pyramid intervals download this morning and felt mighty fine 😊 - even managing a gentle jog home (rather than collapsing In a heap and breathlessly shuffling back like normal 😂). Am now beginning to ponder on what I do to celebrate my 1 year runniversary (of starting C25K on Sunday...
Just ran my 8k on Juju’s plan this morning, so that’s progressing. Will end up being 1 run down from 3 this week to avoid running 2 days in a row (just been out in Snowdonia for a couple of days scrambling / walking to bottom of a remote climb that we then didn’t do due to weather!) but thought I’d end up having this week off, so not really a failing. (Looking at the weather due in Snowdonia the rest of this week, we’ll not be back out there!)
I’m reviewing my 3rd goal, which was to run a lot more slowly for my longer runs, as I’m now thinking I’ll get to 10k without needing to aim too much slower than my “normal” pace... we’ll see! 😊❤️
Doing ok. My aim is to run 10 times in Aug. So far have completed 5. In theory 50% done for 50% of the time but I think the last week will be petty busy so little time for running.
Going well thank you - liking the slightly cooler conditions. Have done speed work with the running club which was much more fun than doing it on my own. Gently upped my distance to 8k this morning (slow & steady) and looking forward to starting Ju Ju’s 10k plan.
Ran on the track last Monday for the first time - it's amazing fun (in a hard work, masochistic way 😂). Some super speedy people there but the sessions are really well structured and everyone is really lovely.
Managed another 10 mins of yoga which is better than nothing!
Only ran once with my son last week (at a junior running club session) but he ran with his Dad at parkrun and by himself for the first time at junior parkrun so I'm pretty pleased with that 😁
I am not doing too well. I have been missing runs and even walks, although I AM walking the dog which is not usual for me. My husband requires monitoring with his dementia and broken ankle which is slow in healing.
Oh dear... I know from my experience with my own Mum, how hard that is...it is so tiring all the time. All you can do is try very hard to find a little space of time where you can just head out on your own..just for a gentle jogette... is there anyone who could be around as carer, while you could do that ?
My son is here, but is going back to college in a week.... : ( ...and the problem is that morning is the only time it is cool enough to run--and I am TIRED!!!
Another good week for me. Ran three times, 11km, and 2 x 5km. One of the 5km was my second Parkrun. Took 1minute 18 seconds off my time from the previous week, so very happy.
I'm going to rethink my goal of Spinning. The class is on a Friday evening. It is HIIT Spinning and is brutal! My legs were complaining too much on the Parkrun. I've cancelled my place for this week.
Happy running everyone
I’ll have to check my fridge door to see what week of ju-ju s plan I’m on. I’ve done an 8km to finish last week and a 4km to start this week. So that leaves a 5km and another 8km. I’m tired from running and Pilates and stretching and strengthening. So I’m having a night off. Don’t want to overdo it. I need to get my high vis jacket out for tomorrow. It’s getting darker !
Hi Floss! I ran a hill, I ran a hill, I ran a hill! Go me! Admittedly it was the smallest of the three, but I didn't think I might make it all the way to the top in one go and I did! Woohoo!
So my next run this week is to get the bus up the Trail on Friday to the next point and trot back down, which should give me about 13 - 14k.
I've eased off on the gym work after advice from wise people on the other forum Still going, but less
Go you ... that sounds fantastic and your trail run too... I am going to head to Parsley Hay at some point.. and run back down! ( If the consultant does not rain on my parade)
Sounds like a plan Well done... Steady and slow and maybe.. get some consolidation runs in.. different distances, shorter and longer, just see where you get to, runs...
This week has been a struggle. I managed to get some great runs in last week while on holidays despite some crazy high temperatures and forest fire smoke just by getting out early morning before the day got too bad, but this week is a whole other story ☹️. I managed a run Monday night, in town, on the tarmac...boo! And really struggled to find my rhythm. I’ve been running so many hilly trail runs lately that I came across a gravel road on my city run that ran down hill on a road I hadn’t really travelled before so I decided to run down it, knowing I would get to run back up it. It was starting to get dark and the road was heading out of town on a very isolated road so I only ran until it leveled out that turned around and ran up it. Well, that was what I needed. I found my rhythm and carried on for a very enjoyable just shy of 8k run. I spent the last 2 k seeking out any little incline I could find. Yup, I’ve become that crazy person 🤪. I had then planned to run Wed night but got called in to work after hours to help a colleague out so that was the end of that night, was on call Thursday night so another no-go, was supposed to leave town yesterday for a weekend get away with my husband’s family and all our hot rods and boler trailers heading to a car show, but had to delay leaving so we could attend the funeral of the mother of one of our dearest friends. So by 4pm, it was 36C, in a black 1930 Model A with out air conditioning, pulling a black boler. It was sitting on our driveway loaded and ready to go while we were at the funeral, but on returning, noticed there was a fuel leak from one of the tanks and then the car didn’t want to start. Why were we doing this?!? It is a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive, in the late afternoon, in blistering heat. The car isn’t happy, we’re not happy, the temperature gauge inside the trailer is reading 50 C....yuck!!! Car show isn’t until Sunday, so we decided stay home in our air conditioned house, got the car started and backed it and the trailer into the shade with the windows and door open and left this morning with a much more reasonable weather forecast. Unfortunately, the smoke from the 500+ forest fires rampaging British Columbia have blown across the western provinces and although we've been in special air quality advisories for the last 2 weeks, it is at a whopping 9 (on a scale of 10 - so high risk for breathing issues and complications) where we are right now. I had planned on going for a run while my son and husband’s family went watersliding but the smoke is so heavy, it is burning my eyes and throat. Probably best not to head out for a 9k run, along grid roads, when just breathing is hard. Boohoo... I guess I should’ve went to the pool. The wind has picked up so maybe some of the smoke will clear and I can run tonight. I can only imagine what it must be like to live in the communities adjacent to the forest fires. It puts things into perspective; a lost run is no big deal in the grand scheme of things. There are many people who have lost their homes or are at risk of losing their homes if these fires can’t get under control.
Sounds like there’s such a lot going on! You’re right, in the whole scheme of things, running should be something to look forward to and right now doesn’t seem like the environment for running is great. I do hope that things get under control soon and everyone stays safe. ❤️
I think this could be the one for me. Just graduated and need to consolidate the 30 mum run thing, get a bit faster, add strength and conditioning in so I can move onto magic number 10
