Hi there and welcome to Week 3 of the New Quest for this month!

How is it all going? The weather seems to have taken an upward turn, although for some folk, the Son of the Beast from the East, may be making its presence felt!

We are moving forward though and many of us are feeling more positive about our run and our running.

So, it is time to set some new goals that we can enjoy as the weather gets, hopefully, warmer.

Take it slow and steady as you return to your running:)

What the Quest is:-

The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.

The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and Strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;

I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the Quest until the end.

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.

Wishing you a happy, healthy week

Just had a weeks skiing so plenty of fresh air and exercise - been home since Sunday and managed 2 x 25 min runs - one thing I have noticed is I wasn’t so tired skiing like previous years - my C25K as certainly helped build Stamina πŸ˜€

I found the same thing last month on our family ski trip. Hubby and son were tired and my legs weren't at all πŸ’ͺ. They tried telling me they were skiing harder than me... I told them I was just in better shape than them 😁

MsFickleGraduate10β€’ in reply toSaskAlliecat

Was a lovely feeling being able to keep up in group not feeling breathless - but I'm not a confident skier - but I really enjoyed it - definitely builds stamina X

I’m hoping to graduate on Sunday and would like to join the March Quest please. It sounds exactly what I need.

That is great... have a think what goals you would like to set for the rest of the March Quest...you can put them in your next reply :) Then I will add your name to the list :)

I already know I want to continue to run for 30 mins 3 times a week, and increase that incrementally so I can build towards reaching 5k. So maybe making one of the runs each fortnight 5 mins longer i e W1: 30, 30, 35 W3 30 30 ;40 W5: 30, 30, 45. Does that seem sensible increments?

I think it does.. slow and steady as you go.. the quest goals can always move onto the next Month's quest too :)

I meant to join at the start of March! Anyway if not too late I am training for a charity run on 18th March. Does that count? Also going to try a new Park run course at end of March πŸ˜‰πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Of course :) x

Please count me in. I want to get a regular 2-3 runs/week routine going again and at least one trip back to my running club before the month is out :)

Still tootling along nicely with this one: daily squats, dog run or walk, food recording (most of a box of Mother's Day Guylian seashells in one day was not pretty). Still need to get my 10K medal run in at some point.

My pull up training is going well, and I did my intervals again today which was really good fun but hard ( obvs)

I'm just wondering if I'm getting back to running the right way. Even though I graduated last summer from c25k and did all of the c25k+, I'm starting over c25k, (now on Week 5,) because I shoveled snow for a few months and was unable to run--keeping in mind that I'm now 71.... I also injured one knee somewhat which takes longer healing when one is my age. I'm finding it easier to do the runs, of course, and am just plowing through it as my exercise.... I worked hard shoveling, as our driveway is 1/10th of a mile long, and some days there was plenty of snow, but shoveling uses different muscles than running....

Curious point: my knee feels BETTER the day/night I run.

Comments welcome,

Liisa

I'm really late to the game OF but thinking it's time to pull up my socks and get back on track. My virtual HM must be run before the end of the month and I just can't seem to get back on track 😞. So my quest is to run my HM using 10:1 run:walk on or before Mar 31. My plan is to get a 14ish k run in on Sunday this week, an 18k or so run next week to finish the month with a 21.1k run. I will intersperse a mid distance run in each week and try very hard to get off my duff and do something Wednesdays after work once I've gotten home from my son's guitar lesson either on the treadmill or elliptical.

Oops, hit reply too soon. I'm sitting here trying to figure what to do, sweating in my own skin. I've been battling a bug and my temp regulation seems off but I'm not running a fever so I guess I'll get out and see what a short run feels like. I'm thinking it might just be hot flashes hitting again. I run hotter than I did pre- hysterectomy but haven't had hot flashes for over a year now. 😩 Seeing someone's post of running with periods I sure don't miss, but I can only decently peel off so much clothing. I guess I wanted summer to hit - it did, just internally πŸ˜†

Don't push yourself too hard Allie if something feels amiss.😊x

SaskAlliecat profile image
SaskAlliecatGraduate10β€’ in reply toBluebirdrunner

Thanks Jan. I'll listen to my body and not push too hard. I was initially planning on 8k but knocked it back to 5k at the start of my run just in case it was still part of this darn virus. The run felt really good though and I managed my 2nd 30 min 5k (although I was DONE by the end of it!). Whoohoo! Further to my theory of the restart of hot flashes 😩.

Bitterly cold here at the Coast, I am glad I ran yesterday.. .it was 16 degrees! Real feel -8 this morning, and the Son of Beast from the East is making its presence felt :)

You take care and rest easy...the runs will still be there.. especially the damn Dam... :) hopefully, by the time you are back on form, I will be fit, ha ha, to join you and Millsie-J for a pootle around Carsington:)

It will be great if you do a snow run, if safe... pikkies will be needed on your post though :) xxx

A great week this week - back into the old Tues, Thurs, Sun routine. Tried out woodland running - which I like very much aside from the hills. Have been reassured by how my knees seem to have held up on rough uneven ground and up and down the inclines too - so think the new shoes and strengthening exercises are paying off. Also managed my second best 5k albeit on an uninspiring evening run.

Still looking forward to Spring - desperate for the off road paths to be a bit less muddy!

So far I’m managing to run every other day for at least 30 mins! Haven’t quite made a park run yet but I’m hoping with the Easter hols coming I might be able to get there! πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€—

After having a real low spot the other week because of my treatment, I managed a 5 KM run/walk yesterday! Very happy with that!
