Hi there , welcome to the second week of the Quest.
How are your targets or goals coming along. I am still runner in waiting!
We have had so many changes, yet again, this last week, in the weather...and , yet again also...hot, dry, humid, and now, for some of us, really wet!
The runs are still out there and still waiting for us.. so, if you are able, let us know how it's all going and get out there and enjoy those runs!
Please, remember that we should aim to be prepared for anything the weather throws at us...including good hydration, ( every day ) and of course.. sunscreen!
So.... healthy and happy running everyone as we head onwards!
What the Quest is:-
The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.
The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the Quest until the end.
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and safe week.

Well, last week was a failure in terms of running. Archery competition, family being over from Canada and days getting changed all contributed to missed runs. However , after running club on Monday I am back on it from tomorrow (blood donation tonight)
Going well - Iβve joined a running club which will help challenge me to do a bit more than I might on my own. Upping my distance slowly and managed my longest run (7.7km) with the club on Monday evening. Loving it πββοΈπ
Add me in please. My goals this month: to run 50 miles (nearly did that last month and am signed up for the Race @ your Pace bling); try to crack my 12k barrier - very hard here as I run out of routes and hate doubling back; to increase pace on some runs; to generally have fun.
Think I got missed off the quest list, but tried to join last week.
Aims were:
1. Run 3 times a week
2. Continue upping distance on Jujuβs Magic 10 plan
3. Slow down more for the longer runs
(But I may take next week off for holiday / climbing plans...)
Just finished week 3 of the Magic 10 this morning with my short run, and hoping to start week 4 with Parkrun on Saturday. Am managing to slow my runs down, though it seems to take me a few k to settle into a slower rhythm. So things going to plan so far...π
Thanks Oldfloss - Iβd not blame old age - Iβve no idea how you keep track of so many posts on multiple forums...π³β€οΈ
Youβre still there with me in prime position in my phone case for all my runs. Not sure if you spotted the photos for our Parkrun last Saturday - canβt add a photo here, but I photoshopped you in for the finishing line! πβ€οΈ
I only got 2 runs in last week but ran the 10k course for my September trail run and it went great. I finished in a faster time than I hoped to run it on race day so am feeling great about that. My second run was tackling one of the hills on the course that I would like to try and run most of it on race day. So I did some hill repeats on it, doing a modified backstitch approach. It is a 2 km hill so going down to the bottom on every interval seemed too extreme for me. Running it my way, I managed to get almost 7k in and ran all but the last portion of the hill that is quite steep continuously. The last hill I still ran the whole thing, but stopped twice to catch my breath and carried on.
This week was supposed to be an amazing week for running on holidays, but weβre in another heat wave so we shall see. Iβm quickly having some coffee and toast this morning then will head for my run before it gets too hot but it is supposed to be 37 -38 C the remainder of the week with lows in the low 20βs overnight......just too hot π. We may head home early from holidays at the lake since we have air conditioning at home, but weβll see. This is my last hoorah at the lake so hate to cut it short.
My goals were... carry on running 3 times a week which I did.
Start back at the Friday spin class. Friday's class was very good, I've booked again for this week.
Do another 10k. Ran 11k this morning
Decide if I want to sign up for the Loch Ness 10k. I have decided to give this a miss this year, maybe run next year. Ive really only been running by myself. I ran at the Elgin Parkrun on Saturday morning, just to see if I actually enjoyed running with other people, I enjoyed it a little but I do like my own space. Will carry on with the Parkruns and hopefully get used to other runners around me.
Stop buying running gear. OK, bought a couple of pairs of running shorts. However OH paid so I met that goal
Next week will be... run 3 times, look into joining a running group, try some interval/ fartlek (fartervals) running.
Well off to a great start for August - loving the break from work and joyously running on alternate days. Started the month with an unintentional 10k because it was just too lovely to stop any earlier and squeezed in some speedy (though if I'm honest quite sweaty) intervals just before coming away.
Am currently on holiday in Cornwall and have managed two early morning 5ks looking out to sea interspersed with some epic coastal walking. Definitely meeting my running for fun target so far. ππππ
Sounds glorious! Those runs that just happen.. perfect...
Have a lovely holiday!
My August goal is to run an 8km road race next Saturday evening and to post a pic on here afterwards I've only run once this week (in the heat and on a very hilly, stony path) as I was recovering from a niglette. The rest did me the world of good and i did a fast 5km (for me) tonight. So no more runs until Saturday and I hope to run with my 50minute pacer friend even though I expect to finish in more than 50 minutes. I am so excited !
Hi Floss! Well, I did run - or rather blunder along - for 11k, so my goal of 16 (was it? can't remember ) is getting closer. Now I just need to make it a bit more consistent this week!
Happy with my start to Week 2 OF. Drove to my βfirst somewhere different than the usual railway line trackβ and ran in a gorgeous new place, Pauatahanui Inlet, did my head and heart good, started back on jujuβs plan today, parkrun Saturday, family round Sunday for OH birthday and Monday, weather permitting, the next βonce a week new place to runβ I had promised myself. Hope its not too long before your feet are kissing that ground again Oldfloss. X
Well after a whole week without running (!), I did a 14k yesterday, my longest to date. So just a small step now to get to a 15k run, which was one of my quest goals.
Plus of course am now on the way to my 100k monthly goal.
Have yet to start doing strengthening exercises, which was the third goal.
Count me in please. One and only goal (itβs enough!!!) is to start Juju plan tomorrow. Good luck everyone ππ»πππΎββοΈπββοΈππΎββοΈ
Hi Oldfloss, Iβm touching base after time off running while on a break in the Lakes. I only managed a tourist parkrun (with steep bits!) last week and a quick trot yesterday, but now hoping to get back to 3 runs a week again.
Had a bit of a posting problem so am late with my thrilling report on the first week.
Yoga has been more 'not' than 'often'
Very pleased to push myself to a 1km swim but haven't had another one.
Just the one little run... essentially my time and energy is being taken up with fighting the local authority over my son's needs, and, more agreeably, with making sure he enjoys his Summer holiday. Which is why I am pleased that my weight is essentially down despite cake and ice cream and not much 'exercise'
I think a successful week... especially finding the enjoyment of your son and his holiday!
I remember the days of battling with the local authority over some of the children in my care at school..in the days when I was Special Needs coordinator...I had some battles royal, with the powers that be... with one senior Inspector once commenting to me... that I was not.. and I quote a .. "Happy Rabbit!!!! Aghghgh!
You did some Yoga.. you had a swim... and you ate cake and ice cream.. win..win x
