Hi there and welcome to Week 2 of the New Quest for this month!
The first week of the Quest was a tricky one for many of us... the Beast from the East putting paid to many running plans.
But...the mornings are truly, getting lighter, the days are getting longer, and it is a great time to begin moving forward, (safely), with some new running adventures.
Time to set some new goals that we can enjoy as the weather gets, hopefully, warmer.
Take it slow and steady as you return to your running
What the Quest is:-
The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.
The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the Quest until the end.
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.
Wishing you a happy, healthy week

Hi, I would like to join the quest. I will aim to do 3 runs a week (which I havenβt been able to do the past month) and try and get up to running 40 mins comfortably rather than stopping at 30. So thatβs my goal for now
Did my park run and did another run on Monday morning think perhaps bit shy of 5k as Strava ad popped up and because I hadnβ Clicked no thanks it didnβt record my run πPlan to go out tomorrow. 5k does feel like a stretch sometimes but think an achievable one. Also some C25K runs felt like that too. Hopefully it will get easier as time goes on.
One run this week, but it was a 10k for International Women's Day which was pleasing - even though the weather did not co-operate at all! I went up the Trail and back, and despite choosing what I thought was a gap in the weather, it snowed for three-quarters of my run. I thought of the suffragettes though, and plodded on.
I have an unexpected event this weekend, which is another 10k where I will be running with two Beyonder friends. Well, we will all be at the same event but they are speedy, so we will meet up at the start and at the end
All tootling along. Squats done (I have set an alarm in the evening to remind me, usually they are in the bag but it does help if I've forgotten), food recording done. I *might* have done my 10k virtual run for International Women's Day on the day itself but couldn't lock the door so had to wait for my husband to come home and rather missed the moment. Stayed home and enjoyed watching Richard Herring raising money on Twitter instead, and got a dog walk in later.
Excellent - well done for setting an alarm for the squats. What a good idea. Well done on food recording as well. I am good at that if I know the totals will be acceptable but bad at it if I know I won't like the answers, which rather defeats the purpose. Good luck for the IWD run.
I think there probably is a bit of a correlation for me too between the days it doesn't happen and the days I have consumed rather a lot more... although I think it is often at least as much because it is rather complicated guesswork from eating food I haven't cooked myself.
Yes, the barcode scan function on MFP is useful if it's prepackaged food but if you are eating out or if someone else has cooked for you it's not easy to quiz them on exactly what they have put into the dish, or to weigh portions. Well, you can quiz them, but they might get a bit fed up...
I'm in please Floss. I've had my surgery, and I've started my radiotherapy treatment, and would like to get back to running. I know it'll take a while and a bit of effort but I've got time, and I'm prepared to make the effort.
I've started again - guess where? C25K of course! I'm not going to necessarily do the three runs in each week, I haven't had that much time off. So far I've done week one once, week two once and week three once. That was not so easy so today I'm going to do that one again, and see how that goes. I normally do a lot of Galloway running, 2 minutes running one minute walking, so I'm probably not hoping to get back to 30 minutes non stop running. I think C25K with Laura will do me just fine.
Hi Curlygurly, good luck with your training again. I know how much you love to run, so it's just building yourself up again nice and steady, the will power is all there!
Have changed my 'identity' since starting this quest!
Managed to get 3 runs in this week but was all out of sync as usual Tue Thur Sun pattern had to become Sun Wed Sat due to parent's evenings at work.
However managed 30 mins with stepoing stones podcast, intervals with Speed podcast and the most leisurely of 5ks today.
Knee is behaving - in fact feels great during runs and after and is only swinging occasionally during rest days (with no rhyme or reason as far as I can see) - So perhaps the answer is to run everywhere π
Must be more methodical now with the knee strengthening exercises which I wasn't so good with this week.
I have really enjoyed my three, Yes three runs this week. I've taken all the pressure of going for a specific distance off, and am just following a thirty minute podcast... (zombies Run!) My old uphill route, with a shortish run, and I am already excited for my next mission...
I am getting faster too, without trying, but it's a good job there really is nothing chasing me as they would catch me for sure! π...
It works because you can play your own music on it, the story/chat is mainly between tracks and the story is developing... you are given your distance prompt too. And it's a free app π
Like Fitter40s I have changed my username too this week..
