Disappointed ☹️😢

Well I spoke to my doc today and she has put me a bit straighter than the dr at the hospital did. He had said” boot on for 7-10 days then if not better by then go and see your doc and see what she says.”

I was seeing her anyway so she checked me out and looked at notes and then said “ right.. it’s a walking boot and aids healing so you keep it on for 4 weeks to aid healing and recovery. Use the crutches to take most of your weight but you can walk on it. You can take it off when you are in bed or resting and do stretching and flexing foot, toes and ankle gently to keep it mobile.

Then after 4 weeks gentle walking and see how it feels ... if still painful come back to me.”

And then she said “ and I know what you are dying to ask as I know you have been enjoying your running so much ...... no running for 10-12 weeks at least!!”

I nearly cried there and then. I was thinking a month maybe 6 weeks ... but 3 months!!! So I’m finding it difficult to stay positive now and may stay off the forum for a little while as I don’t want to put a downer on anyone else while I’m feeling like this. Thanks for all your kind words

I’ll be back xx

😥😥😥 I’m so sorry to hear this Lou. It must be devastating. I know you have a real passion for running and so very good at it too.

Personally speaking you wouldn’t be a downer on this forum. We are all here good or bad. I don’t want you to feel alone. But it’s your choice. I will miss you and just know you are wanted with whatever you have to say.

Sending love 💕 and flowers 💐 to cheer you up. But no chocolate cake as know you don’t like that. xxx

No downer limberlou.🤔

Your running family are right here.👍

Big blow for you,but you will get through it and you will be stronger.👏👏

So sorry, and now you know and you will begin to deal with.👍

Every best wish for your healing and recovery.🌟

Dealing with the downtime strangely strengthens your resolve and passion for your running also,I just have to believe that. 🤔

Take good care of you.💫🏃‍♀️💫

Ouch. I understand why you might not want reminding that others are running. But I’m sure we are all very prepared to try to support you as much as you need whilst on the IC. The support I got was immense and I just had a week out.

If you really don’t want to be on the forum, please keep in touch with whoever you feel closest to who can let us know you are ok and report progress.

Big hugs xxx

Oh gosh....that is hard...not the news you hope for... but... we know that the runs will still be there don't we ?

We need to stay positive....I did not run for 12 weeks after my calf tear... yet here I am :)

And now.. like you, as you already know... on the IC for another three weeks and possibly 8 more:)

We can do this... you can do this !

Do the exercises.... do what you need to... stay on the forum and post what is happening... it helps others....

Sleep on this, then make a plan... an exercise plan.. for upper body and the foot exercises... follow it and post it:)

You stay with us !!!! Please...:) xxx

Oh, hugs to you. 😘 - but as Irishprincess said to me when I had to take 4 months off this spring...

“It is a blip. You are a runner and you will run again.”

Blips happen in life. Look for all the positive things you can do during this time. You will be back & we will be waiting to cheer for you. 😀 If it helps a little- I did find that the not running became less “wall climbing” after a couple of weeks.

Aw limberlou , no wonder you're low. What a nightmare. I could cry for you. 😢We'll all still be here when you get back and it's really important that you have a speedy, fast recovery. Feel heart-sorry for you and sending the warmest wishes. ❤ Get well soon. 😘

Hey Lou don't leave the forum, whether your feeling low or not. You are a part of this community/family and that's not just when things are going good. I will look forward to your posts high, low or in-between. Big hugs Lou :) :)

Thanks everyone for all your lovely messages. ❤️❤️❤️

I just had a really low moment. I don’t think the boiler situation has helped either. I’ll do what Oldfloss suggested and make an upper body exercise plan and work on my core too while I can’t run.

Might try and eat a bit more sensibly and lose a few pounds too.

Aww, hon. Don't know what to say. I'd be distraught in your shoes. All we can do is hope the medics are being pessimists and that you're back on your feet before then.

We're not going anywhere, we'll always be here.

Don't be a stranger, okay xx

Really sorry about your news but you WILL be back running! I was off for around 3-4 months following a nasty calf tear. I was gutted initially but found a great physio who helped with my rehab and assured me I would get back to where I was....and more! I actually found that coming on here from time to time helped motivate me with my physio exercises and everyone's stories just made me more determined to get back there myself. I certainly understand a lot more about my body and running now than I did then. That was about three years ago now so try to hold on to the bigger picture. Hope all goes well for you.🙂

Oh! That even hurts to read and show why you are feeling low, but you know what 3 months is not a very long time. I started running 3 months back and it still feels like yesterday I was not able to think of running and now I’m a C25K graduate.

You will make a smashing return to running. Keep positive and these 3 months will soon be a blip in your running regime.

All the best with recovery!!
