It's so true!
Happy Wednesday lovely people!: It's so true! - Bridge to 10K
Happy Wednesday lovely people!
I look forward to it, I feel great afterwards, but do I enjoy running itself? Discuss....
I used to think that but now... I kinda do... but more because I am using my body, I'm feeling strong; I'm feeling alive!
Maybe part of it is my mother dying recently at 62 after a lifetime of not looking after her body versus my friend who made it to 93.
Every 10k I do now reinforces the fact that I'm healthy (both mind and body) and that I want to stay that way! πͺππ
I am still very new to this, 3months in from the start of C25K so still striving for goals, sub 30 min 5k, a 10k etc. Maybe once they are in the bag I will enjoy the running itself more, don't get me wrong, this has been life changing for me and feel great for the changes πππͺπ
Thatsβ it Jo.π₯
Another light bulb moment for me.π₯ππ
Yes thank you.πKeep feeding and reinforcing that feeling of healthy body and mind and enjoyment and inner peace.π
Running can be forever.
Believe like your friend alsoπ€, that we are all gifted with an amazing piece of kit that is more than capable of sustaining us, and indeed raising us from any given situation, into your current belief in such a short time from your bereavement.
Ho Ho Go Go Jo Jo.π₯π₯π₯
So proud of you and so pleased you have found running.
Take good care of you.
Not the first 20 minutes. It takes that long to get the dog allergens out of my system, even using an inhaler, and for the first at least 20 minutes I have heavy legs and less than adequate breathing, especially as I will have done at least one steep bit in that time, living where I do. After that I feel as if i could keep going forever, and I start to get into the zone, zen out, become one with my surroundings.
Ah. Riding on the endorphin bus to work. So chilled.
I've never regretted a run yet, even the so called fails. And I know now that I've been running long enough to go out and do it again next day if I'm not satisfied with the distance (within reason anyway).
I'm often one missed run away from a bad mood as well unfortunately.. swings and roundabouts hehe
I didnβt enjoy running up until I stopped running on the treadmill and started running outside. Now I surprise myself by actually enjoying myself! And other people smile as you run by too, which is really encouraging.
I wish they weren't call running machines, as they are so far removed from the activity as playing at wimbledon is from nintendo wii tennis. Should be called synchronised forward jumpingor something else. I can run about 1.5k per minute faster on a treadmill than I can outdoors which just isn't right lol
Gosh thatβs interesting Michael.
So a fifteen minute park run, say would be 12 mins on a dreadmill.π€ approxπ€
Or obviously a 33min outside could be a sub 30 on dreadmill.π€eg.
Your training is going well I hopeπββοΈπ₯
What are the pace differences due to different surfaces, say tarmac vs Woodland on the flat. eg. π€
Maybe I just go faster on a treadmill so the time spent on it is less and I can then get off the damn thing and do something more interesting like count my navel hairs.
I find running on grass adds about 15secs per k and long grass about 30. So if my average is 5:45 it goes north of 6 easily for trail stuff. My difference in 10k road to 10k trail is 58 mins to 1:01 best so about 3 mins added, add mud and that'd go up a fair bit though.
Strangely enough the worst run for me was my graduation run, really did not enjoy it!! Think Iβd built it up to much in my head, although Iβd enjoyed runs 1&2 of week 9.
And there were a couple early on where my lovely daughter set the pace and I cursed and struggled but since graduation I have loved them all.
Much prefer to run longer and continuously, than all the stopping and starting of the early weeks.
Canβt wait to get out there again. I love reading all your stories and feel like Iβm out there running with some of you but itβs a bit like giving up cigarettes and then sitting with the smokers so you can passively smoke βΉοΈ
