I never thought that it would happen, but Mr Garmin has today recorded a 29:41 5k PB. Park Run time will be longer (always is), but then I do start towards the rear!! No better day to do it than on Dexy5's 50th Park Run pirate paraphernalia extravaganza!! I hope all went well down there in sunny Southsea, and that the number of arrests for being drunk in charge of a parrot was kept to a minimum! I did slow off as soon as I hit the 5k mark....may be approaching my limit, but time will tell. Time to chillπ
A good day for a sub 30 minute 5k: I never... - Bridge to 10K
A good day for a sub 30 minute 5k
Fantastic BC! π₯π₯π₯ππππ π π Bask in that feeling. Hope you had your customary post run refreshment π§ Waiting with baited breath for the Southsea report π¦
Wow well done - Iβm around the 35/37 minute mark - I really want to get to a sub 30 minute run and will hopefully get there in the end. Well done you! Hope there was a well earned breakfast at the end
Thanks ssasqueen. It has taken me just over a year since finishing C25k. Starting Park Runs has been the stimulus. I have knocked about 3 minutes off over the last 5 weeks. Running with other people gave me a better perspective on what I might be able to do; running on my own is great, but I was probably being a bit conservative. Whatever π!!
Congratulations on your sub 30 5k . You should be so proud of yourself π
Thanks Buddy. Always nice to hit a target! Will have to set a new one nowπ. I met a guy today who didn't start running until he was in his seventies, and is now off to run in the Dublin Marathon, which is only the the latest in a number of marathons. No room for complacency ππππ. I am chuffed though.
Well done! PBs aplenty being reported by VRBs today!
Well done! As you get faster, I get slower! Albert is 100m over 5k I reckon - I always record it as further. Congratulations - I knew youβd do it πͺπ½ Youβre nowhere near your limit!
Whoa amazing BC! Youβre on π₯Thatβs something I doubt Iβll ever do! Youβre a speedy one thatβs for certain - brilliant run! ππππππ
Well done to you on a sub 30min run itβs a fantastic feeling itβs it and definitely time to chill ππππππ
Cheers Kevtrev. Yep ....sleep may not be far away!!π
Congratulations to you Beachcomber66, today should called "sub 30 minute 5K parkrun Saturday, " you are the third person who has reported to this forum that that ran a sub 30 minute 5k at parkrun this morning, once again congratulations. π π
Thanks AlMorr; I like your bright new badgeπ
Fantastic beachcomber. Running with Tasha has done you the world of good. That target is slain. Now, whatβs your next target? π
That unfortunately is how my brain works!! I might try a local 10k as my next adventure; not yet though! Tempted to find the additional 3 and a bit Ks to run half marathon distance. Good strength building stuff. Weβll see how it goes. Bit of smug reflection called for today.π
Excellent BC! Sometimes these milestones happen when we're least expecting them !ππ
Thanks JP. You always said I would get there. I have done it in stages; each of my Park Runs was a PB, wearing the target down so I was only about 30 seconds short by the time todayβs run came around. Confidence is the thing, mainly around whether my heart will stand it! Had an A1 healthy heart check a month back so hopefully I am good for a few more PBs yet! ππ
That's a significant milestone (Kilometer stone? ) you have achieved Many Congratulations :)
Cheers IJ. Breaching the 30 minute barrier, which seemed impossible only a few weeks ago, is a bit special. The product of running with other people and seeing what can be done. Hope you are in good formππ
I am inspired to keep chasing it Bc
It seems "impossible" but so did running for a minute ( though it was a close thing for weeks to do even that at first )
Apart from races, I run on my own. Too slow and decrepit for the local Running club - they like winning lots of bling - and nobody I know except for one old pal is into it, and he lives a good hour away. I know the "energy" I pick up from other people running in events is a massive boost, I do envy all the Park Runs over there. None here, I did try to organise it but City Hall were having none of it. The 'L' word - Liability.
Again, congratulations on quite an achievement, well done!!
