So, at the end of November last year I was told my work unit was being shut by the parent company and we were all being made redundant. I was lucky enough to be involved in decommissioning and my last day is 15 June.
My husband said if I got another job earning more than £X I could have another cat as I was so miserable.
Running kept me sane. First getting to 10k (with Bluebirdrunner , SaskAlliecat and Sandyscroll amongst others) then improving my 10k time and now training for a HM in June.
A couple of weeks ago a stray cat turned up. He was thin, hungry and had ticks and fleas. We gradually got his confidence and he started accepting food outside then inside. Once he was confident enough to come in he adopted my daughter's bed as his own. We got him to a vet and he is microchipped to an address miles and miles away. The previous owners can't be contacted so we are in the process of adopting him.
This week I got a job offer! I am sure the new cat was an omen.
Not really sure what the purpose of this post is other than a big thank you to my remote running friends who have kept me going with their inspirational and funny posts and distracted me from the depths of job hunting depression at times.
Thank you everyone!

Looks like you are on the up - hurrah 🍀😀. A similar thing happened to me but no decommissioning - just thanks and goodbye. Things did resolve themselves, life goes on. Congrats on the job offer.
We have had several cats turn up at our door over the years, our latest one did just that and he is the most wonderful cat ever. I'm sure your new acquisition will be the same.
A difficult time for you, Langley, but things are definitely looking up. Congratulations on the new cat and good luck in the job hunt. Just like your running, you'll get there!
Superb news on all counts - and very many congratulations on keeping running during the dark times, and keeping going with the job hunt.
I am sure that animals seek out the people that need them when they have the opportunity - so it sounds like you are both meant to be sharing life together! Good luck with the new job.
Congratulations on your new job offer; that's great - well done you. As for the puddy-cat, sounds like he knew exactly who he wanted to adopt him; cats usually choose their humans (and not the other way around). And, wow, a HM in June, that's seriously impressive and inspirational progress. Keep running - keep smiling x
