So on Friday I went out for the day to Chester with my daughter and ended up having gait analysis done for the first time, turns out my left foot rolls in so now have my first pair of proper running shoes (bank account is crying). I'm not a girlie girl but somehow ends up with bright pink and black ones, thought I'd be funky for once lol. Got some free socks with them too to lessen the blow π
Then Saturday I finally took part in the local Parkrun for the first time, nearly chickened out again due to my anxiety, but managed to be brave this time. There were more inclines than I'm used to and I already felt it was too hot to be doing this running lark in, so for the first time since graduating C25K I actually walked a couple of times. Still managed it in 34.44 minutes though so I'm happy with that! π
I should be running tomorrow but may leave an extra days rest as it's supposed to be very hot again. Love the heat and sun for hiking, and walking in but I think I've got used to running in the cold and I find it so tough in this heat

Congrats on your Parkrun, that's a good time. Running in this heat isn't easy. You were sensible (don't like that word but you were) to put some walks in.
Totally not my colour usually, this running lark seems to have brought out a flamboyant side in me!
Cheers, I'm sure I'll manage to get round in one go at some point. Took a bit to get used to as I'm not used to running with others and felt awkward about overtaking to begin with. It was a rare sensible moment I can assure you π
Only just noticed my post said once shoe size - predictive text!!! Obviously nice shoes. I think many of us go the same way colourwise. Sometimes I think I might be seen from space π.
You'll be out there overtaking with sharpened elbows before you know it! (Only joking about the elbows)
Hope you enjoyed the Parkrun and I'm loving the new shoes. it is a strange thing when you suddenly pay that much on a pair of training shoes!! (I felt a bit of a hypocrite when I got mine as I usually go on at the kids about Β£60 designer trainers !! - i had to keep the price of mine quiet!!)
And I absolutely agree about the heat -I've just posted about it - but am now thinking "walking breaks" are a great idea in this heat!! And I'm now venturing into wearing shorts to run - something I thought I'd never do. Happy running.
Exactly!! My son is very much into his labels, has 2 pairs of Adidas Ultra Boosts and doesn't even do any sports! I've always said it's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a shoe lol. Although my excuse is I need these to prevent any injuries....i also haven't told my son how much they were π
It's so hard in this heat isn't it. I've also braved getting my pale legs out too. Needs must eh!
It took me a while to invest in proper running shoes ..I had to make sure I was going to stick at it to justify the expense! ! Hope you're enjoying running in shorts...I love it...I'm beyond caring what anyone thinks but do feel a bit self conscious when I walk!!
