A good week for me last week. 17.2 km, weights, swim and speed trials at training with race walking which were a lot of fun. We were trying to get our 400m under 3min and I managed 3:04. Hehe the youngsters did 2;21 race walking. Have a happy healthy week
Managed a nice 24km total last week after having had a minimal running week over easter, so felt good to get back on plan. Usual three runs this week with a long run on thursday(weather/flooding permitting) which will either be 18k or 21k depending on what's in the bank
Might be cracking out the shorts this week and ditching the running top, so will need to figure where to stick stuff for longer runs, may have to try the lightweight rucksack I purchased some time ago(but never used).
It is an option. I recall as a child living in germany that my dad got pulled over by the polizei for driving with his shirt off, apparently they have a law about being distracting to other motorists. Not sure they'd bother pulling me over lol
Still running 4 times a week. 2nd park run last Saturday was slightly faster than the first. Annoyingly my Garmin thinks it's just shy of 5K so no plaudits on Garmin Connect for what should have been my 5K PB. Meaningless I know, but my inner geek likes the stats.
This morning was a trail run in the drizzle. Very slow 5 miles. Proper Loris slow. Came across a beagle standing on the cliff edge barking out to sea. So I said "What is it Lassie, Chuck fallen off the edge?" No apparently just talking to the fog horn sounding on the IoW lighthouse. I know lots of you think your dogs are intelligent. Trust me, they're not.
Couple of miles further I saw a pointer heading towards me. From a distance it looked like it's tail was bandaged. But no, it had a white banded tail like a racoon. Poor thing. I bet it wished they hadn't banned docking.
Oh, and apparently I have a small hernia. Being examined for something else the doc spotted it. So not a long standing niggling strain.
Still, I was running so still a lovely day. A mountain biker going the other way said "Miserable day". Fool.
Graduated C25K last November. Furthest I’ve run so far is 5.4k. One of my goals for 2018 is to run 10k so on Sunday I thought I’d try and stretch out to 6k. It was nice evening around sunset with lovely rosy-gold clouds and a cool breeze.
Well, I completely failed on running 6K but …
I set out intending to go slow and steady but I’m still pretty ropey pacing myself and I was ‘fast’ over the first km. Slowed down a bit but I was still in PB territory after the second. Remembering that you shouldn’t try to increase distance and speed at the same time I gave up on the 6k and decided to go for a 5k PB. I was around 17.40 after 3k and as my 5k PB was 31.15 all I had to do was keep going at a reasonable pace over the last couple of km. I was daring to hope that I could dip under 30 mins for the first time. Well I didn’t just dip it, I smashed it! - 29.30. Speed isn’t a big priority for me but it really felt like a special milestone on my running journey. And the best thing was although it was challenging I felt there was more in the tank.
I’ll do a couple of slow 5k’s this week and then start thinking again about increasing my distance like a proper runner.
I haven't been feeling to chipper since my 6k run last Thursday. Just Headaches, sore throat and aching body. Been resting, and thinking 'I will run tomorrow', just noticed my eyes are all red, gungey and weepy! Nice eh?😩😣 hoping for a short run tomorrow...x
First week post C25K. I was a little worried about leaving Laura behind and doing this on my own but had to try. Armed with 9 weeks of learning good pace control, I managed to speed up a bit (and slow down when needed) and ran my best run yet. Fastest pace, fastest average pace, and longest distance! I pushed it just a bit, not too hard though. Nice listening to my own playlist too! So pleased with this little accomplishment.
