Hi Magic Runners...... welcome to week 4.. like every good mission, we all need rest to get us to the end point of our journey. So I have made an executive panther decision and I am calling this week the RESET week. This is what I try and do for 1 week a month where I do as little as possible to recharge and renew... I’m at my mums in Hayle for the weekend which is superb... ( she thought of this weeks title 🌟)
So your choices for this week are:
Have a rest.
Consolidate what you have done so far.
Catch up if you have not been able to run due to the snow etc.
Basically whatever you want...
Apologies for this weeks vid, I’m a drowned rat, it’s very windy and you can’t even hear what I’m saying!!!!
Thanks, this is a chance for me to catch up. I have found that my running week is a 9 day week, with two rest days between each run. This morning was run 3 of week 2. I didn’t think I was going to make it, but that’s 6k now in the bag, the furthest I have ever run.
Works out for me too. Will do my week 3 7 k run tomorrow or might leave it till Tuesday depending what we do for mother’s day. And then do 2 of the c25k+ podcasts run again. And be ready for week 5
I went for a run yesterday and as I still like the reassuring voice of Laura . I set mapmyrun upto a 2 k run (switched it off as my phone can’t cope with 2 apps running at the same time?) and then did the stepping stones podcast . I hope I did about 7 k or maybe just under ? Do you know what the approximate distance of the podcast is, if running to the set rhythm ?
:-))
Thank you so much ju ju. Great news as I haven’t yet completed Wk3 as I’m on the IC at the moment. I’ve injured the left side of my ankle,/ heel. Swelling is going down but have rested all week end. I did manage to run on tues 6th but since then with work etc haven’t done much more. Hopefully I’ll be out This week.😀😀
I already had a 6 day rest last week for various reasons, including snow, so I shall probably press on now while I still have motivation on my side. Times are sleep deprived and stressful for me right now, so I run when I can.

Oops, I'm on week 3 still anyway - sorry, jumped the gun there!
This is great timing for me too and basically reflects what I have done this last week. My problem is no longer the snow but rather the river flooding! I find it so hard to run in crowded places so I miss my river route. Plus my knee is sore after being manipulated by the surgeon 😡 and I am aching in general after the punishments inflicted by Ming the Merciless! Woe is me... 😜
Ended up basically carrying my five year old a LONG way home today after he unexpectedly conked out after the cinema, so my poor arms and pectorals, which were already suffering after the gym (Thursday and still sore!) have basically waved the white flag.
Ming warned me that on Monday we would be "attacking my glutes from every angle". I might go AWOL instead...
You sound as if youve had one helluva week. Attacking your glutes from every angle 😳😳😳😳 ??? And carrying a five year old any distance is worth a weights session...
Yes, I could have done without that! Especially since he was asleep - at least if they are awake they collaborate but he was basically a dead weight. He watched the whole film then crashed out during the closing credits. We had come to the cinema by bus so I hoped to get a taxi home, but there were none to be found. Still, we had fun all the same. He woke up at home just long enough to eat before zonking out again. Oh, to be a five-year old!
Sort of, though there were the others to deal with too! It was a good day but one of those with no reprieve until dropping into bed. This is the price of having just one day off.
That said - we had a great day, we saw Black Panther (in original English!) which we all enjoyed, and it's not often these days that my little one falls asleep on me so, effort aside, it was all good
The Pope paid a visit to the square directly below our window yesterday and, in an effort to secure an easy day at home, I suggested we stay in and wait to see him, but they weren't having any of it. Pope or cinema? Easy! The little one asked me, "Don't you get to see him enough at work anyway?!!"
Oh gosh, carrying young children is hard as they wriggle!! I always popped my daughter on my shoulders but she’s always been skinny. I couldn’t now tho as she’s 13!!!!
Hi ju ju well after crying off earlier on and so pleased that there was a slight reprieve to be had......... guilt took over and even though I didn’t go out running I actually wanted to see how far I could run without stopping so onto the treadmill I jump!
So eventually I was able to run through the pain and at the moment ankle is ok.
No I haven’t sought advice yet. At the moment it’s not too bad. But I shall take care and I will seek advice if it persists I promise! I’m sure it will ok.Thanks so much ju ju for your concern.
That’s great news @ju-ju- as I am fighting a sore throat this week and couldn’t find the oomph to complete the 7k run yesterday of week 3. Struggled to run even 3km so just wound down and walked the rest. Think my volunteering stint as token support in the driving rain at our Parkrun on Saturday didn’t help much, though I had an amazing time. Was so impressed by those hardy souls that braved the harsh conditions, but then that’s what I’m coming to expect of these amazing folk who call themselves Runners!!
So hap0py with this ju-ju- am going to repeat week 3 which I didn't manage to do properly anyway - my fault, I wasn't reading the instructions properly!
Phew, clambering back on track ... finished week 2 properly and done the 5K from week 3. Before Friday I had had about 10 days no proper running! (But lots of stair climbing, weight lifting and then running to a pharmacy )
Well, my 10k plan is rather going off plan! Only able to manage 2 runs this week, and with a 5k Parkrun on Saturday I needed to do a longer run tonight to keep my weekly total up, so I only went and did 8k! Only a couple of short walking breaks and a rather slow and steady pace, I completed in just under an hour. My first 10k race in 4 weeks time is starting to look attainable 😊
