Morning everyone, and welcome to the second week of the 8 week programme to get you from 5 to 10k. How have you got on during the first week?
It was -5 on my run this morning...... brrrrrrrrrr chilly willy! Luckily it was very short.
So anyway for week 2 you need to do:
3k
5k
6k
So this week I would like you to think about your breathing. I share some of my own tips in my vid, and I think this article is useful. I like the fact that they say it's better to breathe through your mouth as I have NEVER been able to breathe through my nose when I run!!!
Aha! This weekend will be a challenge! So far this week I have done 3.5km and 6km, so I just need to get in another 5km and job done. Trouble is, I’m off for a spa weekend - it really will mean I am a runner if I find time and motivation to get on a running machine during the break!
Managed to do the 5.5k on Sunday and the 5k on Friday of week 1. Real life got in the way on Wednesday and couldn't fit in the 2.5k. I'm going to move on the Week 2 tomorrow assuming we are snow free.
Don’t pani, and see how you go....I am quite excited about this North Pole extravaganza next week, I love running in dramatic weathers.... or perhaps I’m just completely nuts!!
Beautiful bright morning but cold. Wrapped up warm and completed the 6k. My week day runs are in the gym so should be able to do even if the blizzards arrive. Hoping work doesn’t get in the way this week.
Happy confession time... having joined up for inspiration as my first quarter 2018 target was to get back to 10k... and enjoying the first video... I semi-accidentally ran a 10k last Monday. Left my car and ran the cycle path all the way home. Actually, home, up the bloody steep garden and along the track behind a bit just to get that 10k.
I blame it on the Google as she was being weird about other dogs and people and I had to keep doubling back for her.
I’m off out now for week 2 run 3. Did my first park run yesterday for w2r2 5k. I wasn’t last but I’m so sloooooow. I think I was the last person who ran the whole course.
So off to do 6k now. Before it snows possibly all of next week
Hi! Going well so far! Just started week 2 this morning and had a lovely crisp 5K run. Had a bit of problem with my earphones so ended up without any music or anything! I was going to do the speed podcast! Might do that next week instead! It’s great having a plan though and I’m colouring in each run as I do it!! 😀
Wahey! Done the long run - feels great to get it in the bag. Hope not too much ice this week to stop me getting in a midweek run. Chuffed to have even done one week of this excellent plan. Did some intervals in the 2.5K run on Friday ... ooooooof. Felt it working though!
Need to get my head screwed on! Ran wrong distance and forgot about the breathing thing! Funnily last night I had to pick my daughter up from the train station and whilst waiting for her I walked around the station a few times trying to focus on my breathing! So at least I did the breathing "not running" next run will try and bring both together!!
Finished week 1 x 5,5 k yesterday . Will start week 2 tomorrow with the 3 k . So far so good
Just the 5k run to do now, but we are under snow again. I did the 6k on the treadmill today (my second ever 6k) and it was 'orrible. My tiny treadmill really is for emergencies, and not advisory for runs over 3k. So two runs this week on the dreaded machine. I'm hoping for a thaw to do the 5k run outside.
Did the 5 k yesterday on the treadmill . Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be as I listened to your advice Juju. My treadmill is set to miles . So I ran 3,2 miles which is just over 5 k
