If so, it's because I was - we all were - 27C and 80%RH!! at 7AM. I cut 5 minutes from my last week's time, down to 36 minutes . Will have to wait until tomorrow to see whether I regret it and what damage I have done - my first real run for 6 months!!!
Do I look hot?: If so, it's because I was - we... - Bridge to 10K
Do I look hot?
To be honest, you look surprisingly *not* hot although I'm sure you felt it in those conditions!
Many congratulations on your first proper run after all these months. Here's hoping you don't have any ill effects from it - just some normal satisfying little aches in your muscles to tell you that you actually did run but nothing untoward in your foot.
Good on you mate. Things are deff on the up for you.
Welcome back Bazza 🙂
You’re looking very fit, Barry. The break doesn’t seem to have harmed you. Here’s hoping your foot is well and truly healed. And 36 mins after all that time off is pretty good!
Fab pic... you look very muscly 💪🏻
Hmm - over the past 3-4 months, while not running, I have been going to the gym and using the various weight machines. I think I had been losing upper body strength and muscle slowly with advancing age (now 71) - but am sure I can now see that I really have put on some "bulk" up top. I am also certain that over this time, I have lost body fat (can see that) but have gained a few KG's
Great run Bazza! Looks luke you are back yeayyyyyy!
Go Bazza!!!
Well done! Hope you enjoyed the celebratory G&Ts and that you are ache and pain free today.
Cool vest though!😊
Well done Bazza! Yes, hope the foot holds out.. you've been very patient with the recovery..
What do you do about sun protection? I've had a few problems in the past with skin lesions on the temples in the UK, so as you do I use a cap with a good peak for protection, I take it you slap on plenty of sunscreen as well, is that all you use on the face or have you a favourite face sunscreen/moisturiser?☺
Hi Dave - re the sun protection. For 71 years now, I have basically done nothing So far, I have not had a major problem , although I do now have quite sun damaged skin. Most people here use 50+ sunscreen- sometimes I will use a version of that designed for babies ( it doesn't sting when sweat causes it to get into eyes) - wife and I now simply avoid the sun as much as we can. Even when in the UK during summer, we will cross the road to walk in the shade I know people who are and have been for a long time very heavy smokers - now in senior years with no sign of cancer. On the other had my wife's sister who never smoked in her life got lung cancer and died of it. I don't know what is written on the last page in my Book of Life - died of a heart attack while running at the age of 99 ? ( I hope)
Think some kind of luck is also involved..😊
Lung cancer in non-smokers can be caused by exposure to radon, secondhand smoke, air pollution, or other factors. Workplace exposures to asbestos, diesel exhaust or certain other chemicals can also cause lung cancers in some people who don't smoke.
I wonder if it depends on the type of skin.
We use a lot of sunscreen here down under. 30+ or 50+. Hubby who is Germanic descent, use a lot of sunscreen but now has Melanoma cancer. I don’t use much sunscreen and have no problem. I just don’t like all those chemicals sucked into our skin. I only use a natural product on my face which is also a fly repealant as our flies love our sweat when running. Once back home I wash it off.
It is a gamble really.
