Graduated a few weeks ago and wanted to consolidate the 5k to bring my time down then got swayed by the Bridge to 10k as distance is more important than pace to me as I’m doing a half marathon late next year. I am now swayed again to doing as ASICS pace challenge 😂 to improve my pace 🏃Don’t worry Ju-Ju- , I’m still following your plan but will take a bit longer 🤦♂️. I love the fact that I can pick and choose as it’s all running experience and miles completed 😁😁 I love running and the challenges it brings.
Decisions, decisions 🤷♀️: Graduated a few... - Bridge to 10K
Decisions, decisions 🤷♀️
It’s your training plan so it’s all up to you. Just go steady as ever and listen to your body. But think carefully about trying to improve speed and extend distance at the same time. You don’t want to come down with an over-use injury.
Enjoy whatever you do.
You can work on both pace and distance at the same time although not wise to do both on the same run.
The golden rule is to not follow a hard run with a hard run, so juggling of timetables may be necessary.
Running continues to offer you challenges for many years, so smile and run............ it's great.
The bridge to 10k is 1x short run, 1x5k and 1x longer run. I was planning on using the ASICS challenge for the 5k runs and keeping the other 2 slow , I hope this would be ok?
ASICS are a bit keen on the speed thing but don’t be drawn in to trying to go faster til you’re stronger Strength first which comes from longer, slower running. Slow running builds legs. Fast running on legs that aren’t fully developed for running could get you injured so do be careful ! 🙂👍
I decided against the ASICS pace challenge in the end as I decided that endurance was more important to me especially as doing half marathon in October 😁
