Does this mean I graduate?

Ran just over 12K this morning, mostly felt good and had a lovely finish by the harbourside. I’d show you but I can’t seem to get this app to access my photographs… So does this mean I graduated? And if so what now? Comments appreciated…

Well done Gary, thats a long run...and sounds like a 10k graduation to me. There will be a November Graduation post in the pinned posts soon hopefully.

Congratulations👏👏👏😊x

Congrats Gary, definitely a graduation run!

What's next you ask? Whatever your heart desires 😁. It's your running journey and only you can dictate where it takes you. I did my first 10k yesterday and my plan is to get a few more under my belt over the next couple of weeks and then have a recovery week where I drop my distance back slightly for 1 week and then start the build up towards a half marathon. I can only often fit 3 runs a week in so plan for 1 short run where I try to do some form of interval or hill training. It is tougher in my current climate so that one may be relegated to the treadmill, and some weeks may just be a short run. Then an easy 5k run(may increase this a bit as my long run increases) and 1 long run. I plan to increase my long run weekly by no more than 10% of my previous weeks distance. It is recommended to reduce your mileage every 3-4 weeks as a recovery week as well. So that's my plan (it may change yet, it's a work in progress, as always), what is yours?

Thanks, your plan sounds eminently sensible. I’m probably about due for recovery week and a couple of shorter runs sound good… Eventually I’d like to do the work to run up to a half marathon, but consolidating has to be done first. Well done on your progress, sounds great :)

I've decided 10k is my limit due to lack of time to fit in longer runs (work and family commitments)and not wanting to risk destroying my surprisingly robust 48-year old body.

I may venture to a park run one day as I seem to be the only one here who hasn't done one yet :-)

Sounds good... Mind you I’ve not done a park run yet either

I haven't done a PR yet either - nearest one is over a hundred miles away!

I've not done a Park Run... I'd never say never to doing an organised event and have after all just got my first bit of running bling which was something I was never interested in either.

For me increasing distance is all about where I want to go - my longest distance so far was determined entirely by that being how far it is to get round my nearest reservoir.

Well done! You busted the 10k well and truly! 😀🎉

Park runs are good. I've only done 2 as my long run has to be on a Saturday, but both were fab.

I didn't know we were supposed to have a recovery week every 3-4 weeks. That's good to know. ☺
