I’m only going out once a week just now (grandchildren - who’d have them?!) so went out with no particular plan today. Then this happened. Longer in time and distance by quite a way but it did include 2 short walks so not sure if it counts as a 60 min run. Tbf I’m not really worried as I DID IT!! Several musings on the way
: If you’re promised a 90+% chance of rain where is it when you need it?
: I need blinkers (off road only of course) so that I can only see 10 steps ahead and it all appears flat. If I can’t see it I won’t cop out!! Maybe 🤞🏻
: It’s nice to meet horses especially when they give way for you
: On narrow country road and no flat verge kind car drivers pull in to passing places for you. Thank you.
: I definitely need to work on strength as I think my stamina is fine but hills really test me (and nearly always win!)
: Sorry just to go off plan as this time and distance was not recommended based on what I’ve done before
: Did I mention I did this and I’m so proud!!
(next time I’ll try not to walk!)
Happy running everyone - miracles can happen!! 😊

Thank you. I want to get to 60 min to get my badge but at this rate even 10k might be possible 🤞🏻I’ll aim to keep going next time - it’s just those pesky hills get in my way. I’ll need to visit your seafront!!
Go on to pinned posts and claim you 60 minute badge Sybil - you’ve earned it. Just remember those hills are making you a stronger runner. I got to 10 k by a slower pace than yours - you can do this but just increase by 1 k on 1 run and follow by 2 short ones.
I didn’t look at my pace (it’s not a race after all) - time or distance are my aims and I haven’t quite got the hang of pacing. If I could slow down I might manage the hills but seem to just have a “go for it” pace! Might get my graduate 10 badge one day though.
I’d say so... just like C25K it would just be a matter of reducing and removing the walk breaks, or maybe planning one for say 27-32 minutes into the run, from what you’ve just done.
Of course it counts... many people take some walk breaks during events, jeffing is perfectly acceptable there, so it must be here too. Very well done, strength training will help in all sorts of ways. Going too long in a rare occasion isn’t necessarily bad... most people add 6 miles onto their long run to complete a marathon. Just be careful not to do this often and the injury risk is minimal.
If you go on to the bridge to 10k programme you can opt for a time to aim for - 60 minutes, or a distance - 10k. I assumed I’d never manage 10k but might just get to 60 minutes. After this morning I can see neither are beyond me. As I said - a miracle 😲
