...took place last night. I opted not to stick to my plan - easy with strides - but went for a Canicross run instead which roughly equates to an interval run of sorts.
I took a friend’s novice collie along, as she is categorically not allowed to run at the moment - possibly for several months as she has a whole slew of medical problems - he is very eager be a good boy and did really well until we had to stop when one of our newest members had technical issues (her young dog got loose, and managed to gambol around for quite sometime before she decided that being out in the dark wasn’t any fun if no-one was going to chase her!) at which point he reverted to his basic training and started running to heel. A bit of dog swapping then saw me running with different friend’s experienced dog while she ran the novice with her other dog. He was very good, but wanted to stick close behind me. That’s close as in he nearly had me over a few times 😲. I managed not to come a cropper thank goodness, but I have woken up with a bit of a niggle in my calf, which I’m not sure is because of erratic stride lengths trying to not trip or the faster pace I was managing with the experienced dog, or simply me not managing to stretch as soon after finishing as I would have liked due to seeing to novice dog’s needs afterwards.
Either way, I think I’ll be spending a lot of time foam rolling and stretching between now and Saturday.

Hee! This is a proper niggle though - when I finally managed to get on the foam roller it found a really tight knot. I’m sure I can iron it out in time.
My goodness, sound an eventful run! A dog loose in the dark 😬 (not sure if Squiggs would have come back, much too exciting!!). Hope your calf is OK. Best of luck with the event, look forward to your report 👍
Loose dog was so excited to be out with a lot of others, so when she was loose she was desperately inviting them to play, but of course they couldn’t go and join her which helped a lot. If we’d had a free running dog with us it might have been a different matter.
