Took my little Cockapoo Winnie - who did c25k with me - for her first early morning trial run on a waist lead today. It’s an interesting experience having a dog attached via a waist bungee cord but she sort of got the hang of it after a while and it’s so much easier than holding a lead. During c25k I let her off the lead while I ran off road but now she is a teenager she thinks it’s a good idea to dash off into the woods for ages and not reliably return!
Even though it was early we stopped a few times for water and rest in the heat ( for Winnie of course😂) but it was so nice being out there, not worrying about pace or distance and just running for the joy of it- Winnie loved it and so did I!!

Aaaaw thanks June. I can easily imagine the springing!! Maybe worth trying again with just very short bursts? Springers are gorgeous doggies!!! I started Winnie off on day 1 of c25k- being as it was so gentle with so little running involved I thought she would be ok despite being only 6 months and it was all off road. Also I was so slow she only had to walk to keep up😂
She is 10 months now and a little pocket rocket- and also very springy at times boing boing 😂😂
Thanks oldgirlruns-she is a very happy little dog. I agree the pavements get very very hot. I hate seeing dogs walked in the middle of the day, so cruel.
Thanks Buddy, Does your little doggie run with you? We love it- and it uses up a lot of her energy too (and mine😂)
This sounds lovely. My friend runs her spaniel like this and they soon get the hang of it. Trail running will be perfect! Here's to many more runs this way!
Aww how lovely AlysP. I run with my dog 90% of the time, and she loves it. She mainly goes off lead, except on one of my routes - and of course at Parkrun. 🐾🐾
Enjoy your running with Winnie, she’s adorable. 🥰🐾
