In a word yes. But May 2018 is in ,(running and weight terms);,a long way . off. Keep up the running and watch the diet. You will be amazed at what you can succeed in doing. Best of luck with all your endeavours. Mike

You've got a few months to work on that time. Have you tried doing intervals? You could maybe use the Speed Podcast, although I don't know why I'm recommending it as I hate intervals, but they are supposed to be good for improving speed (or so I'm told).

Take your time? You need to get stronger to run faster. Slower running builds legs, fortunately, as does having a non run day between runs

The C25k+ podcasts are ace! I ran them inside out yesterday in my half marathon training as my MP3 player got stuck and played them on a continuous loop. 😃 Laura's timely tips were useful too

Running fast five k's is hard! Because the distance is so short you have so little tine to get up to speed, find your run rhythm etc before it's all over. You need to be strong in your core and upper body as well as legs, so doing some hills would be good practice

A healthy diet and plenty of sleep is a given. As you run regularly you will want to eat better hopefully as it makes you feel more alert and lively then you're more likely to make healthier choices. Clear out stuff which will kibosh your weight loss efforts. just giving up junk food will help massively. You don't need extra grub til you're running beyond ten kms 🙂

Good luck! Stay solid 🙂💪🏃✔️🏅

Well done for entering. You have time to work on your pace and your time, and your weight as well if that's what you plan to do, but don't worry, there will be plenty of people who come in at 37 mins or over. Did they run the race last year? Can you check last year's results? You are also likely to find that the atmosphere carries you along a bit faster on the day itself. You will be fine!

You can do it! I started at 16.5stone c25k, just focus on calories, burn more and eat less. your reduction in weight will speed you up. Don't try and push for speed yet although you will get faster over the months anyway (no intervals), build up slowly to a nice base of easy conversational speed running. If you want to burn calories on top of running, walking and using the elliptical or bike or swimming, on your rest days. Parkrun also is great!

I think 37mins is a great time my fastest is 34 mins at parkrun.
