Hiya,

Boring title eh? Yeah my inspiration has run off. Anyone know a good title?

Anyhow I did a 5K after work today. The last hour at work I put on music from Disturbed (loudly) on through my headset and it gave me this 'I want to run!' vibe. In the car on the way home I put on Rammstein (also not too silent) in the hope to keep the vibe alive. And it worked! Despite it being after work when I am tired, I really really wanted to go for a run!

So kit on and out the door. Put 1 earbud in and continued the Rammstein music, running a semi-new route which I tried out walking last week and which is 5K without having to repeat parts. A part of the route is not too safe as there is only a bike-road right next to the 70 km/h road, but I try to keep as safe as possible.

I started running too fast, but I continued this pace and tried to increase it during the run. I got nice negative splits of 8:41 - 8:25 - 8:178 - 7:55 - 7:37 and wanted to go for a PB (I really felt good). Unfortunately I lacked almost 2 minutes to reach a PB. But it was a good (though slightly tiring run.

Tomorrow I get my third covid shot (immunity-patient and my anti-body count is really low) and fingers crossed I will be able to run the 10K for the world record on Sunday!

Cheers, Evy

Great music! Ten Thousand Fists and Believe are my favourite Disturbed albums

I like a lot of different things. Ranging from Gregorian chants to heavy metal. But the 'harder' kind of music works best to get me in an 'active' mood 😁

I normally listen to rock and metal but have recently put together a ‘happy’ playlist which seems to be doing the trick

Good run for you today Evy, that's great that you got negative splits, you are one of the first people to get a third Covid shot, I expect to get my 3rd Jab at the same time as I get my annual flu jab, one on each arm, ouch, that should be around the end of October or beginning of November.

in reply toAlMorr

Each arm one? I hope you don't get stiffness in the arms! I once got a flu shot in one and tetanus in the other. Sleeping was verrry difficult (I can't sleep on my back) 😹.

My flu shot will be somewhere end October / early November I think. Have to check with my doc. It has been ordered already though.

I had my first two Covid jabs in February and April, no problems whatsoever, been having flu inoculations for a while now with only slight pain in arms, I make sure I don't run for at least 48 hours after any of those jabs.

in reply toAlMorr

My first jab was a slightly stiffness on the outside of the arm. Second was outside + inside of the arm + armpit which were stiff for a week. Now it is another vaccine (first 2 were Moderna and now it will be Pfizer).

With a flu shot I also get a stiffness in the outside of my arm. Pneumonia vaccines too. Tetanus is the most 'painful' (still just stiffness).

I didn’t realist they’d started third Covid jabs already, hope yours gives you good immunity. Sounds like the run you needed, i don’t know the music so will try it out, it certainly energised you

Belgium here, am one of the first to get my third jab. Must admit I am a tad nervous always about covid with my immune system being so low. Just today I refused to catch up with a friend in person. No 'close' meetings for me yet...

Hi Evy

Nice one on the negative splits!

I’ve just looked through my running playlist, another equally subtle band is Ministry there’s also some (slightly) less driven material from the likes of Motörhead, Metallica and AC/DC.

Happy running!

Thanks, going to check them out ☺

I'm liking your running playlist - I can see why you managed the negative splits! I'd add a bit of Mono Inc into that too - I love mixing cheesy and rock tracks together on my playlist just to wake me up if I start to flag 😁Hope your jab doesn't affect you too badly before your 10k.

in reply toWoollyweaver

Thanks and yeah I have a lot of different kinds of music on my MP3 player. Ranging from Lord of the Dance to Epica for example. But it's this kind of music that gives energy to run, haha. And thanks, hope so too!

Hats off to you for a negative splits 5K run after work ! Well done 😁👍

in reply toInstructor57

I know!!! So crazy, right? I have to keep this in mind, listen to hard music to get me in the mood after work. In the weekend it is without music, just silence and birds (and cars and cyclists).

I have not yet run after work 🤣

in reply toInstructor57

No, you get up at stupid o' clock to run, chapeau as we say in Dutch (while chapeau is actually French). Means a bit the same as 'I take my hat of for you'.
