Had a very lazy indulgent weekend so to make amends I thought I'd pop out and do 5k just to get the cogs re-oiled. When I'd done that I still felt I could do a lot more so I carried on and got to an hour and thought "actually I reckon there's some more in me." So, I carried on, knowing that Major Slow doesn't do 10k in an hour but now thinking it was in reach. I'm too embarrassed to say how much longer I ran for but when I stopped I looked at my Stava app and it said I'd done 10.5k - I still don't believe it. It took me 20 minutes to cool down though!
Seven months after C25k W1R1 and three stone lighter, I've actually done a 10k run. I may get promoted to Lieutenant Colonel with a time like that (no, I'm not telling) but hey, I got the distance in. I can work on the time later.
Thanks to everyone in The Communities who's given me support - there's a lot of you!

Thanks Ruth. Canal runner eh? I live quite near the Kennet & Avon Canal. I've never considered running it coz of cyclists, walkers and mooring ropes to contend with. On a morning like this though, I should think it's brilliant!
Brilliant run, congrats on that hard earned10k. Dont worry about time taken.......you cant have been any slower than me! But no matter.......we are long distance runners 😀🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻.
My last long run, 11k, was also down the canal. A good 'go to' route when building distance👍🏼
Yes it is - especially near Devizes where the 29 locks that make up the Caen Hill Flight are. Don't fancy running up there much! I do cycle along the canal though. Trouble is, it's choc-a-bloc with bloody runners!
