... well maybe not quite!
But, after 10 long days on the IC yet again, ( Bronchiosaurus lurgy again)...I was, yesterday, finally feeling fit enough for a small jogette in the sunshine. An added bonus too... I was going to try out my new trail and track shoes.
I researched some time ago and have been noting all posts, reference the shoe to choose, when our lovely Hidden bought some that seemed to fit my bill too. I purchased some...She then had a blip and could not go out in them; So I said I would not try mine until she had been out in hers.. ( are you keeping up with me here..) ?
She then ran in hers and wrote a great report, whereupon I was back on the IC and could not try mine out.. ( Okay I am getting confused now)!
Long story short... ( Impossible, I hear you say), I got out yesterday... Down to my fields and a lovely Irishprincess jogette...
The shoes seem fine...they held me safe and upright down the hill to the village; I was going gently, as Ruth had said the tarmac and hard surface running could be a tad jarring; so I was trying to land lightly which is no bad thing anyway. On the tracks, slightly stony or troughed, and the fields, which were muddy and slippery after the rain on the previous day, I was just fine. The shoes grip wonderfully and I was in no danger of falling.
After a lovely run, not too fast ( slow and steady in fact), I attempted and overcame two grassy field slopes and the shoes got me up to the top...both times Even the seaside-shingle track to the fields was okay... I ran back down the hill to the village... the pavements there are so uneven with broken surfaces and tree roots bursting through, it is like running off road.. and I was fine...I even ran back up the hill and home.. I use the term 'run' very loosely... but just over 4K in 32 mins or so...which I felt, after my last lurgy bout, was okay!!! Plus my breathing, my legs and the rest of me, held out better than I dared hope. Thanks new shoes...
Maybe not conquering the world, but it felt like it
PS
Thanks everyone who advised me and thanks Ruth for letting me copy your choice
