Hi everyone,

The ticking of the clock is starting to get louder.

My runs this week were a real mix up.

Tuesday's 5 mile went great, made better by the way I felt at the end of it and my recovery.

Thursday's 5 mile was a different prospect. I went out in a storm, I have never run in such strong winds. I was absolutely knackered at the end of the run, it had taken me an extra 3 minutes. To put the icing on the cake, as I crossed a one way street going home, I had to jump out of the way of a reversing white van. The driver was apologetic, I was shaken and furious.

Saturday. Set off around 7.30am and went across the causeway, there was a bit of debris scattered around from the nights storm plus the very high tide but everywhere was now quite and still. The Rodwell trail was clean and dry so my journey to Weymouth was lovely, the usual animals showing up along the route. Squirrels, Robins, Tits, Finches and Wrens. I reached the end of the trail and passing through the underpass I headed anti-clockwise around Weymouth's inner harbour. After crossing the lift bridge I turned right and followed the quay towards the Pavilion. From there I ran along the esplanade passing the Kings statue heading towards the clock. Quite a few people were on the beach throwing balls for dogs or just taking in the sea air. There was sand everywhere on the promenade and lots of men brushing and cleaning before the arrival of the tourists. At the clock I turned towards the Swannery and headed back towards the Rodwell trail. On the Trail I took my second gel and a couple of drinks as I ran up the incline towards the bridge before Sandsfoot Castle. Again lots of wildlife to take my mind off the route plus dog walkers, cyclists and a couple of runners. At the end of the trail I rejoined the causeway and headed back towards Portland. I got a nice bonus at the 10 mile point as my wife passed me on her way home. Tooting of the horn gave me a boost for the final mile. I took 10 secs/ mile of the previous weeks long run so I was pleased. In 14 days I run my first HM, i'm certainly getting exited.

I hope you all have had a nice weekend and good runs.

All the best.

It sounds as though it's all going very well wanawig! You describe your runs brilliantly, felt like I was there with you! Running in to the wind is so tough - glad it was more settled for you today for your long run. Two more weeks to go - sounds like you will be ready! Well done!πŸ™‚

Sounds a lovely run, you are doing really well. Which HM are you doing?

Running against strong winds is pretty miserable but needs must 😊 You can stay safe inside away from flying debris, or the trip hazard that are fallen branches, when you don't have a big race to train for 😊

Your scenery sounds fab, and must make the miles fly by much quicker.

You'll soon be at your taper week which is such a relief πŸ˜€

Take care now! 😊

Hi and thanks for your reply.

Your so right, there's always something interesting around here to keep my mind off the miles.

I have this last week of full training, 2 x 5m, 1 x 3m & 1 x 10m plus 60 mins cross training and then the taper week.

I'm certainly getting excited about the run.

All the best.

Hi skysue,

Thanks for your reply i'm certainly enjoying the training.

I'm just a little worried that I will pull or twist something so I'm being careful.

I would hate to get so far on the training and then have to miss the event.

I'm running the;

Great North West, Half Marathon. It's in Blackpool on 19th Feb.

All the best.
