Another cool (cold?) overcast 10.5k run yesterday. So I layered up and headed out. Up till recently I’ve been using fingerless gloves (regular gloves that I butchered with a pair of sewing scissors) to work the phone and watch. But I’ve learned the hard way that this tactic is a bad idea for longer runs. ❄️😁. I now have a pair of bmx windproof cycle gloves that are still cold, but not prone to the promotion of frostbit fingers. The run was nice, along a new straight route I found, that follows the hydro tower corridor nearby. It’s around 4.5k each way and then I just ran around the nearby park a few times for the final 1.5. It was nice.
Fingered gloves are under-rated: Another cool... - Bridge to 10K
Fingered gloves are under-rated
Ha, we were lucky here today with a mild but wet in places day. I used fingerless gloves last year too, and numb fingertips are very painful...
Sounds like a good run on a new route, there and back. I have one of those too, and opted fot 4k there and back today with no extra bit (well done you😊) so just 8k for me. It felt like enough...
Branching out from the cemetery, I see. Sounds like a nice route you've found. I've come to really enjoy the out and back route I have for my longer runs when it's not too windy.
Glad you've found some fingered gloves for winter. It's always a bugger working technology with gloves though. My sister in law got me a pair of running gloves that has a pad on the index finger and thumb so I can actually use my touch screen without taking them off most times. They also have a nice thin mitt covering for cooler days. I don't think they'll be warm enough in really cold weather but are great for the weather we're having now. No more snow for us 😪
Yes, lots of runners seem to use this route as it is paved and quite flat. I’m sure there are some more routes around here.
I gave up on working the screens with gloves. Now I set a big playlist going before I head out and then just need to push a button on the watch to start and stop, so its not such a big deal. Those pad gloves sound pretty cool though. We are still waiting for a real snowfall as the last one was a false alarm.
I treated myself to some Asics running gloves recently (I'm all about the kit at the moment!) and this morning I spent much of my run thinking about how wonderful they are. You can use a touchscreen with the index fingers and they are just fabulously soft and comfortable. They are not very thick and probably not suited to a cold climate but I think they make warmer winter versions too. They are not crazy expensive compared to the other major brands although I am sure you can get cheaper ones. I grabbed them as the hat and glove kit was on offer on Zalando and they are so nice and snuggly.
Gloves... I love them.... none today though... Mine are Time to run thermal ones... snuggly warm
when it gets really cold i dig out a pair of running specific gloves i bought in lidl many years ago they are thin but once you get going keep your hands warm
