5k is really hard to run quickly, so well done. I think a 10k run is much easier as you have more time to get into your stride and then find your run rhythm. 5k is so little distance to pack it all in. It's really quite frenetic. Good though! We don't always have time for a longer run, so 5k is fine.

As is a 3k! 3k's are fun and take up less time. They are quite a challenge if you try and run quick 3 x 1k's , as part of your 10k training

Mixing things up a bit keeps us from getting bored too, and it does our running legs good. Keeps them from getting into a rut

Happy running!

I tried a 5k, 3k and then longer run but didn't work so well for me because my speedy 3 k was usually too slow! Planning on 5 k thrice a week and +/- a longer run on weekends....goodness knows when I'll reach 10k

I still find 5k a very decent distance and I have had a range of experiences of it since graduating. From running like a gazelle to a hippo impression and everything in between! I graduated with a 43 minute 5k and sometimes even now I am near that. My very best was a 34 minute but right now it seems to be 36 minutes and it is enjoyable even in the darkness (mainly due to my cool headtorch)! Well done, so satisfying to enjoy 5k

I agree that the 5k is very satisfying....I had gotten into the habit of running 5k once a week and 3k once (allegedly a speed run!) And then a slightly longer one but wasn't working out so well. Will try to run 5k thrice a week hence forth
