I know it’s 2 days away! Shame on me being so excited! Who else is in on a Parkrun this Saturday, let’s hear from you? Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀

This will be my 5th in a row, just a tad obsessed 🙈 I also spoke to the run director for this week and he’s kindly offered me the chance to write the run report as my first volunteering stint! Yay!

Yes, I’m in and it will be my fifth too. It IS exciting. After last week I just want a good run and I’m not too fussed about getting a PB.

Hey Stephen, it’s great being on this Parkrun journey with you. I hope it will not be as hot as last Saturday.

Stephen_UK profile image
Stephen_UKGraduate10 in reply toJaoJao

Thanks, JaoJao, and likewise. The forecast says 18 degrees at 9am. So that’s warm but not ridiculous.

Debston profile image
DebstonGraduate10

I'm hoping to but my right hip is playing up at the moment so fingers crossed I'm OK to run by Saturday morning... It'll be my 4th Parkrun and I'd love to beat my pb from a couple of weeks ago.

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toDebston

Hey Debston, I hope you are feeling better but if it’s giving you gip don’t risk it. You could walk it if you still wanted to take part in the Parkrun just not in a running capacity xx

Debston profile image
DebstonGraduate10 in reply toJaoJao

Thanks, I will definitely not try to run if it's not feeling right.

Thank you Deals. Ah yes, I didn’t think of that but yes I will share the run report so you can all cheer me on my first volunteer stint!

Will you be running on Saturday too?

I will be doing my 45th parkrun on Saturday; proof that it’s totally addictive. I’ve also managed to volunteer 14 times which is really rewarding and I would encourage everyone to sign up to volunteer at least once for every 15 runs. In just over a year, it’s only pelted down with rain at 9.00 on a Saturday morning in Southsea twice, and I wasn’t running. Isn’t that incredible ? We do get strong winds occasionally, which can make our flat course a bit tougher on the homeward leg.

Have fun on Saturday everyone

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toDexy5

Wow Dexy you are so close to the 50! That must feel really great! Well done on your volunteering too.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply toJaoJao

Yes it’s getting close- looking forward to wearing fancy dress for no 50.

Volunteering has been when on the IC, before a race , or sometimes in addition to running by sorting tokens afterwards. It’s good to give something back.

Number 14 for me and my first bit of Parkrun tourism (have volunteered 3times so far too).

Going to run around lavender fields and apparently up hills at Lullingstone! Anyone been there?

E27M14 profile image
E27M14Graduate10

I’m looking forward to it too. My local ParkRun is two laps of a clockwise loop but the first Saturday of each month it is run anti-clockwise. It is surprising how different the same loop can be in the opposite direction because of the ups and downs! Happy parkrun day everyone.

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toE27M14

Hey there, it’s nice your park run mixes it up! Stops it getting boring x

Yep, I shall be there. Should be cooler than last week as well. 🥵 Happy Parkrun everyone!

I’m gonna say it....I’m doing Parkrun for the 1st time tomorrow. I’ve not yet got to 5k since finishing couch25k and I also need some motivation at the moment!

I’m bloody nervous about it though, around 500 people do the one il be going to and I checked and they all get good times eeeekkkk!!!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toMilajayne

You will enjoy it I am sure. When I did my first one 5 weeks ago I didn’t reach 5K in 30 minutes but I kept on going and realised I had it in me to run for longer, over the weeks I have been getting PBs (Personal Best) every park run so improvements have given me a boost.

The nice thing about a bigger park run is that you can blend in, don’t forget to have your first timers briefing 😊

Zara2017 profile image
Zara2017 in reply toMilajayne

At the one I am going to tomorrow theres going to be about 700 as running graduation courses will be there. Only my 2nd time there tomorrow. Last week I walked for .5km at about 4.2 then ran last bit. Great atmosphere. Always shout thanks to marshals. They're fab.

Good luck to you. You'll be fine. Its YOUR pace.

If you start at the back and go at your own pace, you’ll have a great time Milajayne. Get there in plenty of time so you can chat to volunteers beforehand and let them know it’s your first one. Don’t forget your barcode. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶‍♂️

I hope you and anyone else on this forum had a good run today!

Park run is AMAZING! The marshals are awesome as are other runners who encourage me/others along.

I got a new PB 2 weeks ago of 34mins. . Trying a different route this week with a running group. Very excited.

I will marshal one day. But tough with 4 kids under 6. Just signed elesdet 2 up to junior park run 👍 they loved it last week. Good incentives too.

I have been running for 10 years after being some one that has never liked any form of exercise.

I have always walked because I don’t drive but wanted to get fit and started running with no plan whatsoever.

I got to 5k and did just that for 9 years.

Not really loving it.

But then I injured my ankle and had to build up very slowly I did the C25K and went from there I love running now and can’t wait for Parkrun every week.

I did bridge to 10K and I am building up again I have just got to 12 and half K

Kat332zz profile image
Kat332zzGraduate10

I’m going for number three this week and am aiming to run the whole way this time. Still 52 seconds off the elusive 30 mins, but I WILL get there eventually. Our park run had pacers last week which was great, I just kept my eye on the 30min guy and trailed round after them, it was just too hot for any major thinking!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toKat332zz

Last week was challengingly hot for Parkrun. Your so close to 30 mins I really hope you make it soon, that’s inspiring.

Kat332zz profile image
Kat332zzGraduate10 in reply toJaoJao

Made it, 29.20, still too hot and Strava timed me at 29.38 but either way I cracked the 30 and I ran all the way. Hope it all went well for everyone else.

Zara2017 profile image
Zara2017 in reply toKat332zz

Well done. Imagining for sub 30. Still a way to go. Need to quicken up to reduce from 34 to 29!

I’ll be running my 54th parkrun at Brundall this week (still waiting for my tshirt!). I volunteered last week to avoid the heat. Bit sad that I’ll miss my home parkrun’s 7th birthday (Southampton) but I’m parkrunning so I know I’ll have a great time 😊😊

Good luck with your parkrunning!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toWC8334

Indeed, changing scenery for your runs keeps you going, you need it on your last weeks of c25k and also beyond that if you want to be a runner beyond the programme. Parkrun is great for that and it’s addictive.

Oh I thought it was at portabello? Are there 2 in Edinburgh? I’ll have to do some research! Yes, we could meet up!

Fitwannabe profile image
FitwannabeGraduate10 in reply toHinchleyMum

There are two in Edinburgh. The one I am doing tomorrow is the Edinburgh one, running along the seafront at Cramond/Silverknowes. The Portobello one is round a park I think, not done that one

HinchleyMum profile image
HinchleyMumGraduate10 in reply toFitwannabe

Your one looks better/nicer but as we’re staying pretty close to the Portobello one (5mins vs 40mins) we are more likely to run there realistically 😔

I’ll be at the Burnham-on-Sea one, start and finish in the park with a lovely trot along the prom in the middle. I’m one of many and try to get lost in the crowds, it was daunting at first being a lone runner adjusting to the numbers but it was so worth it!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply toTkaye

I felt weird on my first run but my run 2 I soaked it up for what it was, and didn’t look back.

I’m excited too, I graduate with my running group Broseley Joggers. We all started C25K together 12 weeks ago. It’s been an amazing journey and a very supportive environment would recommend running with a group any day.
