I know it’s 2 days away! Shame on me being so excited! Who else is in on a Parkrun this Saturday, let’s hear from you? Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀
This will be my 5th in a row, just a tad obsessed 🙈 I also spoke to the run director for this week and he’s kindly offered me the chance to write the run report as my first volunteering stint! Yay!

I'm hoping to but my right hip is playing up at the moment so fingers crossed I'm OK to run by Saturday morning... It'll be my 4th Parkrun and I'd love to beat my pb from a couple of weeks ago.
Hey Debston, I hope you are feeling better but if it’s giving you gip don’t risk it. You could walk it if you still wanted to take part in the Parkrun just not in a running capacity xx
I will be doing my 45th parkrun on Saturday; proof that it’s totally addictive. I’ve also managed to volunteer 14 times which is really rewarding and I would encourage everyone to sign up to volunteer at least once for every 15 runs. In just over a year, it’s only pelted down with rain at 9.00 on a Saturday morning in Southsea twice, and I wasn’t running. Isn’t that incredible ? We do get strong winds occasionally, which can make our flat course a bit tougher on the homeward leg.
Yes it’s getting close- looking forward to wearing fancy dress for no 50.
Volunteering has been when on the IC, before a race , or sometimes in addition to running by sorting tokens afterwards. It’s good to give something back.
I’m looking forward to it too. My local ParkRun is two laps of a clockwise loop but the first Saturday of each month it is run anti-clockwise. It is surprising how different the same loop can be in the opposite direction because of the ups and downs! Happy parkrun day everyone.
You really have got it badly haven’t you? Number 20 for me this week, first anniversary of C25K graduation and a VRB meet up in Leamington Spa. So excited 😆
All the best for your graduation run and what a great way to finish, you will not look back. Your time is impressive, please report back how you get on.
I’m gonna say it....I’m doing Parkrun for the 1st time tomorrow. I’ve not yet got to 5k since finishing couch25k and I also need some motivation at the moment!
I’m bloody nervous about it though, around 500 people do the one il be going to and I checked and they all get good times eeeekkkk!!!
You will enjoy it I am sure. When I did my first one 5 weeks ago I didn’t reach 5K in 30 minutes but I kept on going and realised I had it in me to run for longer, over the weeks I have been getting PBs (Personal Best) every park run so improvements have given me a boost.
The nice thing about a bigger park run is that you can blend in, don’t forget to have your first timers briefing 😊
At the one I am going to tomorrow theres going to be about 700 as running graduation courses will be there. Only my 2nd time there tomorrow. Last week I walked for .5km at about 4.2 then ran last bit. Great atmosphere. Always shout thanks to marshals. They're fab.
I’ve done two parkruns and had to walk a bit each time but you get nothing but encouragement. I’m aiming to run the whole way this week fingers crossed.
If you start at the back and go at your own pace, you’ll have a great time Milajayne. Get there in plenty of time so you can chat to volunteers beforehand and let them know it’s your first one. Don’t forget your barcode. 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🚶♂️🚶🏻♀️🚶♂️🚶🏻♀️🚶♂️
I have been running for 10 years after being some one that has never liked any form of exercise.
I have always walked because I don’t drive but wanted to get fit and started running with no plan whatsoever.
I got to 5k and did just that for 9 years.
Not really loving it.
But then I injured my ankle and had to build up very slowly I did the C25K and went from there I love running now and can’t wait for Parkrun every week.
I did bridge to 10K and I am building up again I have just got to 12 and half K
I’m going for number three this week and am aiming to run the whole way this time. Still 52 seconds off the elusive 30 mins, but I WILL get there eventually. Our park run had pacers last week which was great, I just kept my eye on the 30min guy and trailed round after them, it was just too hot for any major thinking!
Made it, 29.20, still too hot and Strava timed me at 29.38 but either way I cracked the 30 and I ran all the way. Hope it all went well for everyone else.
I’ll be running my 54th parkrun at Brundall this week (still waiting for my tshirt!). I volunteered last week to avoid the heat. Bit sad that I’ll miss my home parkrun’s 7th birthday (Southampton) but I’m parkrunning so I know I’ll have a great time 😊😊
I'll be doing the Tredegar House parkrun in Newport (my third) - not quite finished C25K yet (just finished Week 8) but enjoying doing something different to help improve my running
Indeed, changing scenery for your runs keeps you going, you need it on your last weeks of c25k and also beyond that if you want to be a runner beyond the programme. Parkrun is great for that and it’s addictive.
There are two in Edinburgh. The one I am doing tomorrow is the Edinburgh one, running along the seafront at Cramond/Silverknowes. The Portobello one is round a park I think, not done that one
I’ll be at the Burnham-on-Sea one, start and finish in the park with a lovely trot along the prom in the middle. I’m one of many and try to get lost in the crowds, it was daunting at first being a lone runner adjusting to the numbers but it was so worth it!
I felt weird on my first run but my run 2 I soaked it up for what it was, and didn’t look back.
I’m excited too, I graduate with my running group Broseley Joggers. We all started C25K together 12 weeks ago. It’s been an amazing journey and a very supportive environment would recommend running with a group any day.
I shall be volunteering tomorrow, as run my 5 k run today on the Bridge to 10k plan. Park run is amazing. Everyone is welcome no matter the pace that they run at. Enjoy everyone
I'm planning on it! Will only be my 4th - other stuff gets in the way - but looking forward to it as I haven't been able to run since last Thursday (daughter #1 has been in hospital).
Would be number 22 for me this morning, but I'm saving my legs for my 10k race tomorrow. Therefore it's my first time volunteering. Looks like it'll be a muddy one at Marple and so I'm not that sorry not to be running.
Had a great Parkrun this morning! Managed a PB, knocking off 1.5 mins off my PB last week! So thrilled, the improvements keep coming. I actually think running 5K in 30 mins will be possible!
Run report hasn’t been uploaded yet, will share that soon.
That’s great. Very nicely written. Well done. Love the enthusiasm and lots of great insight. This is surely worthy of its own thread so that more people get to see it.
